When rebuilding after a crash I installed the new head block that Blitz gave everyone in the beginning, after a couple of flights I noticed the flybar carrier was loose. After further inspection I found that one side was stripped out. Got a new one and now when I tighten both bolts the carrier doesn't move freely. When I ordered the new one for some unknown reason I also bought new bearing spacers. I've checked the bearings and they are fine, checked to see where the spacers are actually riding on the bearing and the bolt head doesn't touch the bearing at all. I've removed the bearings and bolted the spacer and bearing to the carrier and it moves freely, but it back in the head and same thing hard to move. Obviously something is binding but I can't figure out what it is.
Anyone have any ideas for this old man???

I had the same problem with my xtreme 90 machine when I tightened the bolts. Then I got these:

BTW, these washers are not 3x4.5x0.5, they are 3x4.5x0.3

Use one each along with blitz spacer and you are all set. Make sure you use one of these behind the bearing, that is take the bearing out and install these first and then bearing on top. Most probably problem will be solved and yes, these washers do fit behind the bearing and are very thin. I purchased 20 packs of these washers and use them on all helis I have.

Let us know what you do.

Ya I know how to fix the problem with some washers, but the flybar carrier never did this before with the old head block and was curious what might be happening. The fact that one side of the carrier was stripped out leads me to believe that one bolt was threaded on farther than the other side. That really shouldn't be possible if the bearing spacers take up any extra space between the head opening and the carrier.

I got an e-mail telling me how to fix the problem the correct way without washers.

Remove the bearings from the head block and make sure there is no Loctite on the bearing and inside the head, if so remove the Loctite. Re-install the bearings and the carrier, then tighten the bolts. The carrier should move freely, then remove the bearing and apply Loctite to the outer edge of the bearings and install back in the head and tighten the bolts. If the carrier doen't move freely then the bearing are bad and they need to be replaced.
