I have one fitted to my stock protos, the first one was swapped by the store where I purchased it because it would not govern, neither does the second but I can't be bothered taking it back to swap it for another that doesn't work! Both have worked flawlessly , Except the governor, no cut outs, no glitching, perfect soft start.

That's just my experience of them.

4 cyclic,

The problem i'm having with the governor is it doesn't!
It behaves EXACTLY as if I run it in conventional mode, the head speed drops away through the flight as the battery voltage drops and it makes no effort to correct for load.
Personally I can't believe the ESC's have been faulty with such an obscure problem, also I can't believe i'm doing something wrong because there isn't anything to do wrong!
I have an eagle tree plot to show it so I know it's not in my head.

Im running 95% flat, and that's probably why I didn't expect much governance room

what % were you running at

I have a protos and a V3 eagltree to hookup but I don't have a MSH ESC (I bought my kit one week too early) or I would have tested this already . Its kinda odd that someone would come out with a ESC with governor capabilites that doesn't govern... not sure whats worse... kicking in governor mode (read Align 60A) or not govern at all.

I've tried the governor at 75% 80% 85% 90% 95%

All have the same problem. For the first trim flight I had it at 75% and when the HS dropped at lift off I assumed the ESC had been designed to stop you governing at too low a headspeed, when I got to 95% and it still wasn't working I had the first ESC swapped.

I can't believe I'm the only person having this problem.

Here's something I experienced:

First my setup:
- Stock Protos
- MSH ESC, stock configuration
- 6S 2500 Desire pack

I set Idle 1 for 85% flat and Idle 2 for 95% flat.
I flipped Hold off, went to mid stick in Normal and immediately went to Idle 1. Spool up was nice and soft, head speed seemed nice and consistent. I flew for a minute or two then went to Idle 2. I could feel the higher head speed, nice!

Here's where it got odd...
I went from Idle 2 back to Idle 1. But, instead of going from 95% to 85% as expected, I lost all power as if I hit Throttle Hold. Luckily I was only 4ft up and auto'd down. Weird thing was the motor was still spinning but very slow (I'd guess maybe @ 10%-15%)

I checked and Hold was definitely off, so I did not flip the wrong switch.

Anyone else experience this?

I logged a 5S flight tonight with govenor and got the same results. Governed headspeed drops along with the pack voltage. It's very apparent when graphed. A quirk of this ESC I guess. HAV

**UPDATE**

For anyone interested...
I was not able to reproduce the odd behavior I experienced earlier.
I used the same battery and the same settings. Tried switching from Idle2 back to Idle1 several times and all was normal. No power cut off. I tried with different batteries, old and new. No problems.

Just a coincidence the the LVC kicked in just as I switched modes... possible.

Gov mode is working for me.

I crashed my new Protos the other day when the MSH ESC malfunctioned. First flight of the day, I went to idle up 2, blasted off and the bird climbed about 50 feet and then I assume thermaled off, so I shot an auto down to about 1 foot and then the ESC decided to go to full power again instantly, whipped the bird around and got a boom strike and parts went flying!

I had about 8 flights on the protos. Another strange thing about the ESC is when I came down and switched from idle 2 to 1 it would cut out for about a half second and then kick back in making an awful noise.

Anyone experience these problems?
Thanks

cutout

Well it wasn't the ESC, I got another protos and moved over servos, receiver and that was it. I installed an Align ESC 60 amp, new receiver and Scorpion motor and yet to my amazement the new heli is doing the exact same thing. I thought the pinion one-way was slipping but that's a different pinion.

I am at a loss on this one, but am testing new ideas

Any ideas??

Hey --I had a similar issue with my t-rex 450 before flying it. when ESC hit a certain speed it cut out. I was lost but I decided to reset my radio setup for that heli and re did all my settings. And that fixed it. It was not my ESC like I thought, but some setting in my radio I was not aware I set that caused it to cut out.

Just another idea for you...
