Good news guys
Thanks to the efforts of Pete Christy and the AHA we have been given the go ahead to hold a test event at the British Nationals in August. We will have to fit in to the F3C flight breaks and will be limited to 20 entries only, with a max flight time of 6 minutes. We will run it to the AMA rules, although some modifactions may be necessary due to the nature of the flying site. We will need judges, timekeepers and helpers as well as entrants so any help would be appreciated. I will be in touch with the AHA and we may have to set up a scale sub committee to sort the rules out etc so let me know if you are prepared to help. We may get to try out the rules at Charmouth and do a test "test run".
Thanks to Pete, the AHA and Chris Bromley at the BMFA

Thats excellent to hear Denis.

It'll be interesting to see who has the most entrants.

Do you have any dates set yet?

Hi Peter
It's thanks to you too, all your hard work getting the rules organised. The dates are the long weekend in August, around 28th, 29th 30th and 31st. Static judging on the Sunday, or maybe the Saturday while the Sportsmans rounds are being flown. All to be finalised over the coming weeks.
Thanks
Denis

It may be worth trying two classes if the entries support it, one for "scale masters" and one for "sports scale", as there are people who may not want to enter against some of the larger turbine helis. I still have to find out from the BMFA if turbines will be allowed to fly in the designated area.

Dennis,Well done, thanks for putting the effort in
Why not let each Pilot judge the rest of the entrants in their class, it works well with the AHA, then each one is judged by the same checklist

Dennis,
For the F3c there is a sound limit at a certain distance, and there is also a weight limit.
Not too sure how those rules affect the scale comp, as you said more info is needed. But if it falls under the BMFA/AHA jurisdiction then these are rules they abide by..

Anyway good luck to all those who take part for the 2009 season! i look forward to reading about it in the mags.

Peter, No need to worry like he said he will not be competing,
Talks a good flight, yet to see him actually do one, and I have the video's,I thought turbines were not allowed in F3C, or have they changed the rules again
Mind to be fair there would be other competetors besides the 3 of us
Does that mean you would be willing to return for the event?

Well I wonder what people on RR think of that comment Peter Wales? Are you targeting a newbie here for ridicule again? What a great shame, closed shop eh, just the way to keep any interesting newbies out of the scale arena, really gets scale a bad name. Prehaps Peter Wales and Peter Rob you could set-up, enter, and judge a scale competition all on your own, that way you would be sure to win. You could even donate the prizes and then award them to yourselves.........ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Oops sorry I dozed off...

I am sure Peter can defend himself BUT just let me point out that when I asked Peter (as a newbie) for an opportunity to go to the US Nationals 2008 as a judge (LEARNER with a capital L) he and others bent over backwards to help me understand what judging was all about.

My scores did not count but he and the other judges looked at my score sheets and gave me advice on where I went wrong etc

I am sure I was more trouble than I was worth but Peter gave me all the help I asked for and more - I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity

If thats a closed shop - your kidding yourself
Cheers
Joe

Hi Joe, Peter Wales said it in his post.... what are we to make of it?
He is picking on a fellow member again and for no reason..
Not reading between the lines Peter Wales has said that if this member enters a competition and he is the judge or anything to do with judging, then this guy might as well take a walk.
Anyway nuff said from me, it's here, he said it, he knows were he stands.
It just keeps new people out of scale and makes it stale.

Anyway nuff said from me

That, little man, is the truest thing you have said.

If you looked closely, you would have seen there was a bunch of smilies behind my comment, which meant it was light hearted, but you have to stick your grubby little nose in there and stir it up don't you.

If you think about it, which you obviously didn't, contestants judging each other could be a recipe for disaster. There is no love lost between Peter Rob and Matt, and Matt thinks I don't like him, so if we, the two Peters were judging him, what do you think would happen in the results?

Would we judge him fairly and if he didn't win accuse us of being biased against him. Would we mark him down cos we didn't like him? Would we mark him up so we wouldn't be accused of being biased against him?

It was purely an example of how that type of judging would go wrong and as he wont be competing and I wont be there to either compete or judge it's all purely academic, so get back in your box and stop trying to stir it all up.

well if this is what its going to be like

dazzaster, Darren and you think it is not already like that, just look at your own club,
If you were going to attend then you will have to get into scale, by the accounts I have heard your flying is certainly up to that level

I know Matt knows you don't like him after that awful pm you sent him!!
You cannot be allowed to constantly have a go at Matt, you are a bully.
Your smiles are a cowardly stab in the back Peter Wales, that is how it reads to me because we have seen you disgusting behavour and bullying comments about Matt on the other forum.
Matt and I fly together, I'm so sticking up for my freind, as any friends should.
And if you don't wan't a reaction Peter Wales, then keep your insults to yourself!! Look see we can all put smiles but they don't mean a thing!

Anyway this has gone down hill far enough now thanks to us and we have wrecked Denis' scale post now, I'm really sorry Denis, but I am just trying to stand by a friend.

Scale Competition 'B' certificate

Dennis S, If the competition was held under the Auspices of the BMFA, and held at a public event,
Will all competetors have to have a 'B' cert to enter?

peter thanks for the kind compliments about my capabilities, but i dont know what you mean about my club, its friendly helpfull and welcomeing and has everything any heli pilot would want from a club.
limit less land to fly on,and a wealth of knowledge base as all forms of flying are welcome and growing scale, 3d, aerobatics and turbine,
on top of that the club has won numerouse awards at events for all the above reasons

Dazzaster, Darren,Could you explain numerous, how many is that?, and how many are individual at a National level?
When are you going for your 'A' or 'B' Cert?, you will need them to fly at a BMFA event, if you need testing, you can always pop accross to our club site, 1 Chief Examiner, 1 Helicopter Examiner, and 1 Fixed wing Examiner, also tips from a Qualified Instructor
