My 57 is finally dead.... before I could figure out this tuning issue.... Piston ring is cracked.... Anybody want it for $100 bucks? 10mm carb version.... Piston, sleeve, ring replacement kit cost about $100 bucks.... Plus I'll give up the NR pipe for $75 bucks, header included (CF frame version)....

I think it's time for me to move up to 90 machine....

Is too bad you lost your engine. Many things can go wrong! I blew up a new 91HZ after 6 tanks. My 57 is kicking like a mule! What Head Speed were you running at the time?

Yes is a shame, i am sorry fot him, i send him a PM becasue i am very interested to know exactly wath uppen and how was his average setting.
PS the service and repair video for the 57 is done for me, Is unow under Novarossi release, if OK in contens and in information will be annonced On here ASAP.
I start make the one also for the Carburetor tuning, will be ready in one week... now is running like a creazy and i need more video... let see wath I can do next.

Been through a little shy of 4 gallons..... But, it may be due to the fact my throttle servo failed in flight.... After a minute in flight I switch back to normal mode so I could bring it down to tweak needle again.... Then I noticed the HS didn't change.... I hit Th hold, still screaming..... Then I thought, crap, throtle's stuck.... I was gonna 3d it to keep the load on the engine..... but I noticed too, the boom support is dangling loose also..... It might hit the main blades...... All I could do was pitch pump it, to keep it loaded...... Must be over 5 min till it ran out of fuel..... Next day I try to fly it again but it just won't make power it used to.... I took it off, open it up, I found the ring was cracked....

Been wanting to have a 90 for a while, so I think I just gonna stop messing with big displacement 50's.....

Hi Tail_BoomStrike,

Have you check carefully if this is a throttle servo failed or just the carb barrel is jammed, I have the carb stuck in the first flight.

Can you help to confirm this ?

oooo this engine is untunable... i cant tune it right...
Its very very difficult...

CAn someone tell me his needles with 20% fuel?
i have OS 8 plug..!

one time i had 100oC and after and auto i had 150 lol this engine is crazy..!

When i open the low needle i must have better temps right? in this i have higher temps...!

Hi Guys! I need some help!
I have been runing the NR57 with an OS A5 plug and Enya 3. With both plugs I had tons of power, runing very consistant and temps about 51/54 C messured on the back plate.
The problem is that I burned both plugs in less than 15 flights.
Now I'm using the Novarossi number 3 but after a couple of minutes of flight, on the ground, the engine start rattling. If I open the low needle, the sound become very constant but when I open throttle, the engine stops. The temp with this plug is about 55C, the main needle is 1.8 opened and the low needle, I don't know, I just hear the sound. Using 20% nitro, 20% oil and 0.4 shims.
The question is: If the temp was 54C at the end of the flights and I burned 2 plugs in about 15 flights, what is wrong with my setup??
Using the Nova 3 plug, could I lean the main needle and get a leaner mid range?
Thanks in advance.
BTW I'm interested to know also, How much percent, the main needle can affect the mid range and how much the low needle!

I will make a suggestion to see if I can help you enjoy your engine. I had some issues with the carb Set up at the beginning so I took it out and put the Carb from my OS50H. Since then I have never had an issue with it and I am loving every single minute of flight. If you have an OS50H Carb try it! You can start 1.5 tunrs out on the needle and go from there. You will not be dissapointed, I replaced the Nova Plug after I broke in the engine. Now I am running OS8 with 30% Nitro.

Main needle is 1.8 opened from flush and low needle was 4 from fully opened when the engine was rattling. At 4.25, the low range is very constant but mid range is too rich!

Maybe I need three of these carbs. One for my NR57 and the others for my two TT53

i dont have an OS carb i sold it with my previous OS..
Also something else i thing that the rattling is for the lowneedle its too close.. you have to open a little...
3.45 to 4 turns..
but can you tell me how the low needle affecta the temp in 2100rpm?

Take it off from your OS and try it! I am telling you, you will love it.

4 Turns is too open (that only works fro break in from my experience, no offense to anyone). I would go with 3.5 on the Low and 1.5 on the high. I am running 2150RPM. In hover you sould see a lot of smoke, and during normal flight you should have a nice trail of smoke. You can close the High one click at a time and perform high speed loops. If you loose your smoke you are too lean, if not you can continue adjusting. The sweet point is between loosing your smoke and adjusting to get it back. Temps will be higher than on a OS.

I have done this with two 57 an they are running perfect. If you close the Low Needle too much you will get poor performance and High temps.

I will finalize the tuning video of the 57 tomorrow, will be a plesure put it on line and you will easy understand one for all all possibility situation in the engine and fix it to get the perfect power and smoth working.

The video for engine service is now under Novarossi release and agreement if OK will be on in 2 days. I preatty long total 2 h, but will be spit in 12 episode were I will show you all the service to do and more import how to check each engineparts and discovery if ok or not.

i am sure you all will love it.

For the user that have problem with plug, is becasue the engine is too compress add 0.1 shim and will fix out.

Sorry Guys, I get confused.
From completely open, the low needle was 4.5 closed when the engine was rattling. With 4.25 the low range became smooth but the engine died when oppened the throttle.
I'm having this problem only with the Nova 3 plug. With the other plugs (OS A5 and Enya3) I can get a nice carburetion! But... they didn't last too long

Yes I'm running the nova pipe but since I'm using 20% of nitro I installed the 0.1 shim plus the stock 0.3mm!
