The field is actually in Newark which is about 30 miles East of Columbus. What you don't see in the picture is the city's water treatment plant which is right next door. Not a big deal unless the wind is blowing directly out of the West though.

We have been reconstructing our Pilot Pit area inside the barn by building tables, installing lighting, , additiona water source, connecting electrical outlets for charging, laying a concrete patio, side walk with Permanent BBQ grill and some landscaping. The club members have been putting in alot of hours on the weekend trying to improve our flying site. Here ae some of photos of our project. I will post more photos when completed.

Updated Photos.

hwy Guys, I thought I would keep you all updated on our progress of our field at Hot Start Heli (HSH.) As you can see we still have some painting to do this weekend of all the wooden tables, wall and spreading some more sand. We have 4 electrical outlet locations for charging and a secured stereo which was donated by a dedicated club member. Installed two light fixtures for over head lighting. Permanent BBQ Grill. Concrete patio w/ side walk. We still have to do some landscaping, planting, purchasing bar stools for our work areas and laying a thin carpet surface on top of our tables. We have a secured storage area for tables and chairs for FF's and gatherings. Thanks for all your suggestions and opinions. Before the winter comes again, we will install windows and possibly a wood stove which the owner suggested. The owner uses this area 2X a year and thats it for his employee gatherings. So we are really fortunate to have a great field and location with restroom on site. I'll post pics of the final project.

Ahh Lacey

I lived in Lacey for 2 year during my Army days. Man I loved it up there. Plus my Uncle lives in Olympia. I really want to go back.

Rob, the updates on the build look awesome. I can't wait till come down and sign up and join the fun. The last couple weekend days I could make it, I sat at home watching it rain instead. Oh well, nice weather will be here soon enough.

FF date will be here before we know it!

Painted inside last weekend. Well were about at 75% completed. we still have to work on building frames and windows before winter, plant grass seeds, connect the wood stove the owner bought for us before winter and paint the BBQ grill smoke stack the owner welded together. Also making some extra parking space around back and laying some gravel on the drive coming in. He will definately have fun using this place for his get togethers twice a year. We laided thin black carpet on our work benchs with rubber backing and extra rubber mats for work stations in cases of fuel spills. Time to take a break and burn some fuel when ever we get some decent weather around here:-( For the most part everyone has been working hard to make our pit area a second home. Enjoy

Well, we've made some more big improvements. The owner bought and installed a wood stove. This will come in handy during the cold winter months. He laid more gravel on the road coming in and made another parking area in the back side of the barn. He also made around about for traffic coming and leaving. the wihndows are removalble during the summer. More landscaping around the base of the flag pole. Painted the permanent BBBq grill smoke stack. Installed a back access gate from the rear parking area. Still seeding grass. Here are more photos. Enjoy!!!
