What would you say or do if your boss told you to build a model helicopter without loctite!? And when you tried to convince him that it is stupid and dangerous and that you've had helis come apart before from a single bolt you've missed, the response you get is, "I'm your boss"!

Yes,have him build one without loctite with his own money.

Would you drive a car with the wheels held on with velcro?

Better yet, prove it to him and build one with no loctite and then go see how long you can fly it,or even hover it.It won't be a long term experiment.

Ahahahha, that's the best no loctite reference I have come across!

I once flew someone's Trex 450, he had used no loctite on any of the bolts it seemed, screws were falling from the motor mount and frame while it was hovering, about 30 secs in!!!

Why you you be building a Heli for you're boss in the first place, unless it's you're Job. In that case strongly advise against it, then build it the way he wants.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

i learned the hard way. i bought a mx400 on runryder with no locktite and i was a noob so didnt put any on and then after like 10 flights everything came apart and then every 2 flights the tail would explode and i would loose controll!

USE LOCKTITE

how about making a bet with your boss, if the helicopter can surivive with no locktite! atleast make a little money off your boss if hes going to be a DumbAss

Build it,

Leave the jesus bolt loose, stand back , and watch the fun.

Have the bottle of Loctite in your pocket, and hand it to him after the fun is over.

DO NOT SAY: I TOLD YOU SO!!!

Just hand him the Loctite.

Oh, if he requests that YOU fly the Heli first.....repsectfully decline, and show him this thread.

Why Hover a Yak, when a Heli does it better?

If it's for you too fly I'd use the Loctite, if it was for him to fly I'd do as he said, but also warn him to fly far from himself and others.

Please don't ask if I worked or flew today....I would not like to lie to you

Could it be that this guy has some sort of allergy to loctite? Perhaps he owns stock on a competitor's company? Either way, I am really curious as to the basis of his request...

I'd like to know the back story...

Boss owns a hobby store and the build is for a customer? Boss want's to sell a lot of replacement parts?

Safety wire! LOL, I want to see that on the 2mm screw heads for a 450! Hard enough to get them on my 8mm header bolts!

Back story?

Boss owns a national distributor that gets supplied with chinese pre-assembled heli kits that don’t have loctite. Forwarding this problem to him a week ago caused him to blow-up and get all high-and-mighty. I tried being very direct and using clear examples. I've lost a few helis to dry bolts and seen countless others explode. I started helis 4 years ago, gliders over 10 years ago, but 'cos "he's my boss" he knows best. He's now the boss of no-one.
