how about a "TG-450SE"?

http://www.xheli.com/tg-450-special...copter-arf.html

i just ordered this one. i cant believe you get all that metal for that price - $128! so beautiful in the pics, damn near erotic! that price will surely go up. at this other site they have the exact same thing but a whole lot more - $249.

http://www.nitroplanes.com/hearfbrelrar.html

i'm still learning to fly so i still dont know what makes a bad 450 yet. all i know is that i do not like my helimax mx450 pro (damn tiny phillips screws).

i will post pics of the build and i will most likely need some help/advice as i go along.

That is a pretty good bargain. So is the one that is $189 w/ a Case right now.
Just be advised that I believe that uses the same main shaft as the Genesis. Only Xheli makes that, so get spares in case they run out of stock. All the other crash parts should be Trex SEV2 compatible.
What Servos, ESC, MOTOR, Pinion are you getting?
What Tx and Rx?
Lay out your plans

i'm stripping everything out of the mx450 which includes:

futaba t6ex fasst
gy401 with an 29257 on rudder
align 430xl motor and bl35 esc

the servos are futaba 3114's but i do not know if i want to use those yet. since i'm new to micro and heli's, i do not know how they compare to other things out there. i picked those up to support my lhs. they seem to be okay though. cheap too.

Thats a really good looking heli for the price. My buddy fly's one of the cheaper 89.00 dollar helis, and it is staying together. He gave me an extra EXI complete rotor head system for my problem attic mx400, and now im problem free. I still want a new heli though.

What size pinion do you have?
w/ a 3500-3800Kv motor a 13T pinion is good.
EXI has the same main gear size as a Trex450 (150 teeth)

13 tooth pinion w/ Align 430 L. ARK 400, with completely metal EXI head, from swash up. Im not sure of the model, but it's the blue one, and it works great.

The 4 smack in the middle look like the right length. I just guestimated they looked like 13 threads to me. that was the same as the other photo you posted.

On the xheli site, there is a SE (plastic head) and a PE (metal head) version as the comparison. What are the advantages between the plastic and metal head/tail/etc? Somewhere I read that for a newbie it is advisable to go with the plastic because if one crash it will only breaks the head rather than the other parts. I just want to get everyone's opinions.

Unless your doing some serious head banging against concrete, I don't think the metal head's gonna break or bend.

I crashed the plastic head on my squadron once. And about $15 worth of plastic broke on it. 6 crashes later on 2 other metal head Blueray 450's and none of the metal has yet to need to be replaced. I won't say that the metal will never bend or break. They are more likely to bend maybe. It's just that the plastic seems to break more often and the plastic swash of the SE has plastic balls on it. It may be fine for a while, but your better with the metal. The PE comes with CF blades which a novice does not really need.
I have mentioned to some people to get the SE version, then get the $39 metal/head tail upgrade that they sell (look for that under the EXI 450 spare parts section). That way, you get your first crash parts in the head already and you now have a 2nd tail & belt!
Then stock up on crash parts from the EXI 450 spare parts section and use the cheap Fiberglass 325 or 335mm blades Xheli sells.

Melnic - thank for the suggestion and feedback.
Oh! yes the RTF kit does not come with a LiPo battery charger/dis-charger/balancer. What would you recommend if you were to get one from the beginning or any suggestion will be great?
Thank you again.

xheli has a nice cheap charger that can charge up to 6s. It's only rated up to 50w but it has really nice safety features and charged my hyperion 3s packs just fine.
