If you have one of these helis, please post your first impressions here.

I have 3 Blueray 450's now. One is an RTF and 2 are Rx ready edditions. All are the all metal PE versions.
I have converted one Rx ready helis to a scale Hughes 500D using a Heli Artist Fiberglass fuse.

I like this Heli very much. Very stable and the value to $$$ ratio is very high. Like the other EXI's there are spare part compatibilities as well as incompatibilities. I'm hoping to work on a list of compatible EXI parts for the blueray shortly so that we can gather this information.

If you have an EXI or Blueray/Genesis. Please post on this section. If we get our posts high enough they will give us our own section to work off of.

I just picked up a 450PE all metal edition. I must say the build quality is just INSANE...The electronics are obviously no name, however I will fly it tonight to see how it does.

Only 2 things I noticed, no charger for the radio and no batts for the radio. So I'm hoping I can use my futaba radio charger and pick up some rechargable batteries for it.

I JUST NOTICED, after looking through other posts, apparently they made a EXI model which was kinda junk, kinda not if you got a good one.

I must say this BlueRay edition is absolutely TOP notch, it is IDENTICAL down to the canopy of a Trex V2, the main gear same blue, IT's freaking awesome. I can't wait to fly it when I get home.

Yes, it is a really good buy.
Be advised to check all the screws.
Many people report the metal to metal screws comming loose so either pull them all out one by one (1.5mm allen driver) and use blue loctite or keep looking at them every flight.
Also One of my paddles came loose in flight so I CA'd it back onto the flybar. Other than that, it's a decent heli for the $$$.

I checked all my screws, everything was rock solid.

I have to mess with the gyro, the tail was a bit off, other than that she is a very smooth flying bird, gonna get some quick pics so people can see just how insane these deals are on these helis!

Well got almost a battery through her....Couple things that are irritating me as with all new helis...The gain situation on the radio is just awkward...I basically put it to full gain and adjusted the rudder SLIGHTLY.

I need to adjust the gain on the gyro itself because I have a feeling that gain switch has nothing to do with the actual gain...It wasn't hovering right when I had the gain almost in the middle, but being that its all the way to the right it hovers MUCH better but when I turn and go forward I can see the tail snapping, just EVER so slightly...So tomorrow, when I haven't had like 4 beers, I'm going to adjust the gain on the gyro itself.

Another thing I noticed is the screws going through the main blades became a problem I set it down and musta touched them, and when I kept trying to hover it, it just wobbled from hell...I slightly untightened them and wala no more waddle...She hovers just like a very pretty trex v2, once I get the gain worked on, I think shes going to be a real nice easy lazy bird in the air.

Bench test your gyro and gain setting.

the left knob is the gyro gain.9, 10, 11 oclock is Head hold.
1,2,3 oclock is rate mode.
Turn it all the way to the right and the tail servo will move MORE as you wiggle the tail.
Turn the knob all the way left and when you twist the tail 90 degrees and hold it, the tail servo will move more.
Turn the know close to 12 oclock and the tail will barely move when you wiggle the heli.

Melnic I can't understand much of what you just said.

Explain this...

LEFT KNOB:

ALLL the way to the LEFT is what?

ALLL the way to the right is what?

How do I adjust it because on a real H/H you NEVER trim the tail via trim on the radio, it has to be done on the servo on the heli moving it forward and backward.

Put another battery pack through her.

I just center the rudder. Start flying and then adjust it right and it stabilizes the heli out just fine. However I dunno if it was a glitch or my mind, but when I got like 40 feet away from me, the thing sorta just paused in mid air, I ran up about 8 feet and boom regained control...Weirdest shi# ever but again prolly just in my head cause I don't wanna crash it LOL.

Other than all that little stuff, she flys and looks so sexy in mid air its just amaaaaazing how cheap it was.

Your wack!
Right by the big screen.
That's some large cahones you got.

I typically like to set the Tx trim to 0 and keep test flying and adjusting the tail trim mechanically till I get near zero tail movement hovering in rate mode. Then I'll operate in HH mode from that point on. You never get a perfect operation in Rate mode but I just like to do it that way so if I'm in rate mode, my tail trim is not that far off. But I'm used to the Dx7 where I have a switch.
W/ the RTF Tx, you have that dial so just when I set the heli down, I will move the tail stick back and forth as I spin up so that I can see the tail moving, then I move the stick so that the tail slider is close to middle. That way when I take off it does not immediatly spin on me.

Did you see the vid on the Tx I had done?
That covers the gyro gain knob.
Are you square on your gyro gain now?

Damnit I didn't see that..I have her tuned almost what I think perfect in Rate mode, I guess I could put it over in H/H mode.

I have it prolly like 70% on rate mode and she flys around pretty good.

Are they the same as the original servos?
If not, you should be warned to always use the same servos on the swash. Don't mix and match swash servos.

I use HXT900's from Hobbycity.com myself because they sell spare gearsets.
It's the gears that strip.

To change the reversing on the servos use the "reverse" function on the T6config program.

maybe I am doing something wrong but I can't get the T6 config program to run. I had to buy EXI servos cause the sites I looked on were out of stock of the exact same ones.

Thanks

I got it to work on the compuet but I have never had to do this before. How do you change the settings? Everytime I reverse it it doesn't keep the new settings.

Thanks,

Dan

I was told that Exceed makes cheaper products and the quality is no where near as good as TREX. You guys are saying this is as good as the TREX 450SE v2?

You might have a bad USB to Tx cable.
Have you been able to change any other setting successfully?

I have only flown someone else's Trex so my only comparrison is how they fly. My EXI or Blueray flew pretty much the same.
I have had very little quality issues if at all with any of my Blueray or EXI parts. Only thing I don't like are the servos that Xheli puts on the RTF helis. When I stripped gears in a crash, I just put in HXT900's.

I got it to connect successfully to my computer but not to the T6 config application. Does the transmitter have to be on? should I see the current settings on the transmitter show up in the T6 config? Sorry, just never had to adjust it on the computer before.

Thanks,

Dan
