It is called "Death Spiral"

1. Hover high
2. roll 90 degrees to knife-edge
3. set pitch to zero so it will drop straight down.
4. apply elevator to flip while falling
5. recover

Death Spinner
A vertical descent with the rotor disk vertical and rotating on a vertical axis with the helicopter
pirouetting also. Judges are looking for a perfect vertical descent through at least 50m with a
recovery as low as the pilot is comfortable with.

Red_z06:
You also have to do piro's at the same time.

So the Death Spinner, is a big tail slide,
and the heli turn/rotate around the vertical axis (cork screw)
AND doing piro's at the same time!

Ha!

I thought it was his English translator screwed up death spiral to death spinner.

Does anyone have a video? A new maneuver to learn.

Hi

I think it is like knifeedge piro funnels with 0 pitch and then bail out as late as possible.

I can only presume Jeff Barringer has moved the event to Spain because he has a holiday home nearby perhaps ;-) I cant see many people from the UK going for the weekend with the Euro exchange rate as bad as it is, as it will work out to be a very expensive weekend away :-( ..... at least weve still got the 3D Championships in the UK to look forward too !!

We U.K flyers are being robbed of our event!

It should take place in the UK even if it isnt at Northampton.

It is a UK event and I am afraid that moving it to Spain is taking away what 3d masters is all about. British hospitality, ingenuity and enthusiasm.

I have attended the last four years and looked forward to sharing a beer and a burger with likeminded people appreciating great flying from world class pilots in the U.K.

Mr Barringer can stick the event where the sun don't shine! Seems to me that money is more important than what the fans want.

It seems to me from talking to people connected to the event that he is more interested in the money that can be generated by this event to a point where it is more like a business than a competition serving the sport.

This is a sad day.

well as long as there are enough spanish people interested in helicopter flying then the event will continue to be well supported by the public, but I'm wondering if the uk sponsors will continue to support it.

see the thing is,if you're a uk sponsor,I would assume you expect to find uk people there to promote your wares to,if 90% of the public there are spanish, then would you want to advertise and sponsor knowing that the public will buy from the spanish shops and distributors, and not you.maybe new spanish sponsors are needed as well.

all comments are my opinion only!

Why would any UK sponsor want to back it in Spain?

Has anyone got the dates for the UK 3D chamionships, we should all throw our support 110% into that instead.

For those of you who suggest it's to do with money, may I suggest you read my previous post, "NIMBY's are 100% to blame... To say it's a UK event is plainly ridiculous. Last year there was a total of six UK competitors, it's an international event, now being run on an international basis...

The move is understandable under the circumstances, but it is a uk event,it was conceived in the uk by a uk man,and is sponsored by a lot of uk companies as well as other companies, let's hope it continues to do well in spain.I'm wondering how many non competing brit's will want to go over there to watch it?

And why do you think that was? We certainly have quite a few who were rejected and are plainly better than some of those who got in.
We are holding the olimpics in 3years but there is nowhere in the UK to hold the masters.

3D master spectator view

Guys hello there.
I'm from Greece i'm 25 yrs old and less than 1 year in rc helis. Got a mini titan. I'm thinking of combining holidays in Barcelona with the 3D masters event to get a good dose of what 3D is all about.
Have never been abroad before but i think its worth it.

Anyways. Do you know how it's like from a spectator's point of view? Is there anything i need to know? Is there a ticket i have to buy? At the official site it doesn't say anything in particular for the spectators.

Thanx

The amount of UK competitors that currently can attain a place in the event has no bearing on where it should be held.

As said before this event has always been a UK event attracting Iternational pilots. In recent years more International pilots have taken more of the slots which is understandble as the event has been elevated in profile but in the spirit of the competition which has been supported loyally by the U.K trade anf flyers it should be held in the U.K

I know that 3d masters has had alot of support from inception. The trade have made a large contribution in time and money to get the event to where it is.Don't you think this is a kick in the balls for many of those loyal sponsers?

I would not blame them if they did not want anything to do with the event after next year.
