If it wasn't for the UK public, going to support the event at the start, the event would have never got to this status.

So the reward we get?

Take it elsewhere.

Loyalty? Not

If it wasn't for the greek public the Olympic Games hasn't never got to that status.

I wonder why the hell they decided to move them around the world

Global Spirit, Accesibility to the rest of the world, International vocation.... nahh don't think so.....

Best way to predict the future, is to Invent it.

masters used to be about promoting and improving the sport, giving the new generation of pilots something to aim for where the FAI failed us.

however these days its turned into a money making venture for one man. The UK trade has grown tired of masters, the pilots are fed up with the dreadful flying site.

it had to move and i had talked to jeff about moving but i dont think anybody in the UK wanted it to go abroad.

The reason for the move is simple

"NIMBY's"

3DM has been plagued with locals complaining about noise and perceived danger. I've seen the work Jeff has carried out to placate these fools (one in particular) and it's not funny!
The college, who unfortunately have to live next to these idiots all year, are aware of these local issues and have piled upon Jeff ever increasing rules and regulations (as have the local council!) regarding the event. I know Jeff has looked long and hard for a suitable alternate venue within the UK to no avail, so Spain it is. Sunshine, plentiful cheap accommodation, bars, golf, versus mud, rules, regulations and complaining locals.
No brainer really...
To those suggesting it's a money making exercise, you obviously don't know Jeff very well then ;-)

Andy Marks
(For those that don't know me I own the practice fields for 3DM and will miss the party I was planning again this year... Will hopefully see you all in Spain though ;-))

I think this is a good move. It makes 3D Masters an ambassador to the 3d heli hobby. There should be a 3D Masters Britain, 3D Masters US, 3d Masters Spain, 3d Masters Korea, Japan etc. and 3D Masters(international). So, when the 3D Masters comes to US, there will be 3D Masters, 3D Masters US, and XFC.

For top tier guys, it probably makes no difference where it is held. But, with exception to XFC, there are expert class where locals are more likely contestants than in the master class. That means more exposure to unseen local talents.

or

3d Masters (international)
3d Masters America, Europe, Asia (sub division)
3d Masters US, Canada, Korea, Britain, Spain etc. (national level)

What if only the winners of the lower division are allowed to represent the subdivision and finally at international?

I think it is super, that it is moved to a more sunny place, I have never been to the 3D master, but with this location http://eumap.rcheli.dk/?mypinid=3611 I have to go.

I hope to see some of you down there, I have 2.860 km (ca. 1 day 2 hours) driving, but I expect that the financial crisis will change the flight prices for the better, and then I will fly

Really I understand you guys from the UK, I live in Denmark and I can’t wait to get down there.

Hey Timp

There were more Danish flags at Boughton last year than I've ever seen!

Sure a young Dane, non competitor, flew here last year, I'll really miss it!

Barbeque with 11 nationalities, common love of heli's, it was magic!

If you look at the map http://eumap.rcheli.dk/?mypinid=3611 you can see some houses with pools SW of the flying field, and if you search the net, you can find that you can rent a house with a private pool at the golf place it is expensive but it would be cool to have your own house with pool for the weekend and then again, you won't have time to use it you have to watch all the heli's
