MENTORING 101-
How are you guys that volunteered to Mentor making out?
Are you keeping busy helping out anyone that needs help?

Where I live/Fly in Central Orlando there is a constant influx of new guys getting into the R/C Helicopter hobby, so aside from the guidance I try to give them at the field, my next input is join RunRyder and start reading/learning versus watching the TV! You will learn more in one hour reading here on RR than you will watching TV and Commercials!

Post back and let Bulldogs know that the mentoring program is the best way for beginners to learn to fly!

And let's here from those "who have been mentored" on how your doing and how your flying is progressing!

Now we need Mark Ryder to get a Forum Section just for mentoring so anyone who wants to learn isn't afraid to just ask for help here on RR!

Keep it going Bulldogs!

Today I met back up with a one of the guys I've been assisting at the field.
I "nudged" him from the A Typical patterns into pirouetting in both directions!
By the end of the day he was able to throw down three stationary pirouettes in each direction!

You should've seen how proud he was!
Next is Auto rotations, I sent him home to "play" on the sim because real world auto drops sure aren't like the simulator ones! I'm confident that I can have him dropping them from 50' by next week at this time!!!!

(He is 56 years old by the way, Old dogs do learn new tricks!)
Keep them learning!

My goal is to mentor someone that can get better than me so they can "Instruct Me" on how to get better!!!

I had forgotten all about my mentor til I read this thread!!! Dad sold my my first bird long distance (Shuttle) and the neighbor down the road taught me about set ups, repairs and some flying. I eventually surpassed him (he was more of a scale type flier). Sad, got me thinking that he moved away about 15 years ago to Tennessee and a few months later driving down an icy mountain road, drove off the cliff to his death. Jeeeez, haven't thought about him in years. Well, here's to my mentor Jim....good guy.
This is a great hobby for meeting good people. When I get back up to speed soon, I will be more than happy to help the newbies like I used to.

I have come into contact with 2 gentlemen that have helped me a LOT so far and I know they will continue to do so when they are available. I think a mentor program is a great thing and I really hope to be able to give back as they have given to me some day. I already have an understanding of the basics, just now learning how to apply them. So I am trying to help people who haven't picked up a heli yet hear the same things that I already have heard.

Regards, Brandon

Hello,

I'm on the list as a mentor in Oregon. If anyone in Oregon needs help drop me a PM. I really want to see our great hobby grow here in the Northwest. Anything I can do to make that happen I'm all for.
