Man ,that realy is an awsome design. I realy like the battery position; I bet the roll rate is way faster and smoother.
Thanks twinring , you are always coming up with some realy cool stuff for the EP8...

Thanks Jimbo,

Yeah Im a real sicko, I think I enjoy building them more than flying them... Although today I had a big smile on my face hovering it around for the first time.

Putting the battery up there was the reason I started this project, the opening of the frames idea was ok, but it had alot of flex and didnt hold up in a crash. Before this version I made a G10 opened up frame version with 3 point braces and realized the part count was getting ridiculous and the resistance to roll was not addressed. If you hold an EP8 with a 6s setup by the head button and roll it side to side you can feel the resistance that the heli has to overcome just to roll. with the batteries up higher doing the same thing the resistance is greatly reduced, you can actually feel it in your hand. Ive only hovered it today and it feels promising in that regard, cant wait to roll it over to feel the difference.

yes those are the atom 500 skids, they bolt right into the stock frames, no drilling or cutting, great deal for about 6 bucks!

One of the things I really like about the EP8 is the simplicity of design, with fewer parts, than nearly all the others out there. this was an important goal for me in this attempt.

Gorn,

Thanks mate, im all smiles

As I told Jimbo, Id be more than happy to have more sets made for whoever wants one, This project wasnt a business venture, it was a personal thing, and if you guys want one im more than happy to have some cut for you, you guys would pay what I paid, basically. I sent a request for quote for 6 more sets to see if it would drive the costs down, as Im interested in an extra set for my SP. I dont think there are enough of us out there to go into production with these things anyway, but if you want one im happy and ill get you one.

I have 2 problems.
1 is cash flow right now lol, the new year should be ok.
2 I had cut off the front of my EX center frame brace/motor mount.
As I could not get the Hacker or Scorpion motor to fit the stock mount.
So I cut the front off, and used the SP motor mount.
Drilled some slots in the chassis for mesh adjustment, this is also where it cracked.
My fault.
How do you guys get your motors to fit the stock mounts?
How much are these frames too? PM me if you prefer
I think you might just have saved my QJ Twinring

If you bling it, they will come :D

Gorn,

Yeah we are living in tough times, im surprised and glad most of us are still in this hobby.
did your EX come with the round spacer that goes in between the motor mount and the motor? Im wondering if this was why you were having problems.

I hope I can save your QofJ...

Pm sent..

twinring,

Those frames look great. Well done.

I have two EP8 EX airframes - one new, never built, the other used that I purchased when it was for sale here in Australia.

Your frame design has given me a gentle nudge to get them in the air.

PM sent about those frames.

I didnt get any motor mount adaptor with mine.
I will have to get one and a new main frame brace as well in the new year.
Looking forward to seeing some video of it Twinring
Just do some flips for us so we can see how much speed difference it makes.
Im guessing quite a bit, as the stock battery mounting is like a big pendulem swinging around underneath

If you bling it, they will come :D

twinring,

Jeez I like those frames. Please don't forget me if they ever become available for sale.

If you want, I'd be happy to do some research to see where your frames could be made local to me in Australia. Our A$ has nose-dived against the US$ so the cost of the frames might be a pleasant surprise for anyone living in the northern hemisphere.

Does the "two piece lexan" canopy still fit with the batteries mounted up high like that or is some other canopy now required?

Cheers

Ian B
