Aerial Photography and Video > Helicommand misfunction in North America

Hi all,

I plan to buy a Helicommand for aerial video.

I heard that the helicommand is unable to work well in USA and Canada because there is an interference between Helicommand and 2.4 GHZ RF (rooter wi-fi, microwave data transmission, cordless phone, etc...).

Is this a real problem in North America ?

Someone use the Helicommand in USA or Canada with succes ?

Thanks a lot.

Yves

do you really think that wi-fi rooters, microwave data transmission and cordless phone do exist only in USA and Canada???

I use Helicommand and the only problems I have had were always my own stupid mistakes, like not firmly fastening the main cable plug in it's socket. That is the only problem I have heard about Helicomand, the connector can easily back out. (When that control connector comes out, it's all over baby, don't ask how I know !!!)

EDIT: I fly with a 2.4 Ghz Spectrum system, and that doesn't interfere.

2.4Ghz is a world used frequency for data transmission, also here in Europe phones, microwave data transmitters, rooters, mirowave ovens
and video transmitters...and so many other things are on 2.4Ghz, actually I would be more afraid of having some trouble with a spektrum link than the helicomand. This is the first time I hear this kind of problem, I use 2 helicommands on 2 different machines both with spektrum and never had a problem...

I use HC3A without issue, and that is with a 2.4GHz downlink installed on the same helicopter.

I use a HC3A on one of my machine without any problems. I use a bunch of 2.4Ghz stuff (video downlink, radio,...). Hummm... Like GyroFreak said "Where did you hear this?".

Cheers,

Martin

Not to use a old cliche, but do a search in the AP forum and see all the posts about setting it up and that it does work well. You see a lot of similar problems to avoid that everybody seems to have when setting it up and after they get past the initial hurdle, they like it. I can't remember a single frequency conflict by anyone.

that's not true. I've used a hc3a, and a profi, with both 72 mhz, and 2.4 ( both spectrum and faast), and no issues, and there should never be any issues.

Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.

I also forgot to mention that I was using a 2.4Ghz 200Mw video downlink
before I moved to spektrum, the dwnlink was very close to the helicommand and never had a single problem in many flights

perhaps you should not rely on that shop for technical expertise

Its always good to get additional information. A LHS can have limited resources/experience. Here on RR, you'll get answers to your questions from a global base of users.

The helicommand is not a receiver. There is not reason for it to be affected by 2.4

Just buy it.

Notice my "location".

I have HC installed on both these birds. One 3A and the other Rigid. (just behind the frames).
