Alright Ladies and Gentalmen.

IRCHA 09 will be invaded again. This time with a MASS Cricket hover as discussed in a previous thread. In Honor with the Passing of a RC Helicopter GREAT. John Gorham. Designer,Owner of GMP (Gorham Model Products).

We will have a tent dedicated to Antique Helicopters. Robert Gorham is pondering the idea of coming. So we have our fingers crossed that he and his brother Micheal will come.

I would like to encourage everyone with a Cricket to bring it. Even if it's not Flyable. Perhaps if Robert does come you can get him to Autograph the canopy or something.

Anyways I will pass more news as soon as it becomes availible...

"GIVE IT A WHIRL"

I have recieved a few PM's from some of you.

And in honor of the late John Gorham

Mr. Willis has suggested that we name the Mass Cricket Hover at IRCHA.

As I think it is fitting we call it "Give it a Whirl"

Some of you know that John Gorham wrote a column in the RCM Magazine called "Give it a Whirl". John gave advice and insit to beginners through his column.

Thank you Dave for you suggestions.

If you have suggestions like Dave feel free to PM me. And I will run them by Mr. Milner to make sure they are ok.

That sounds like a great name for it .... and it would be maybe cool if we could get a flight sim with a cricket on it or something that flew a little like a non collective to let other yngins try to fly the oldies ... of course we would make the settings extra hard

Just "won" a Cricket on ebay so now I can participate. I had one and sold many of them(old hobby shop owner) when they were current. I remember it as an inexpensive, OK flyer back when....

We had low expectations of our helis 30 years ago though. We didn't have computer radios or gyros. You really flew them 100% of the time.

Who has canopies?

What engine should I look for ? Period authentic Heliballs are available from Shelton.

Hello all,

My name is Christine Gorham. I'm the daughter of John A. Gorham. I'm sure John will appreciate the mass hover in his memory. I, too, am hoping Robert will be there. I'm sure he has many old friends in the RC field.

I wanted to share with you the details of my father's personal memorial service for those of you who live in the Los Angeles area or are willing to travel. It will be at the Condor Field in Camarillo, CA, through the courtesy of the Channel Islands Condor Club [url=http://www.cicondors.com/CICondors_files/pdf%20files/location.pdf].

The date is January 24th at 1pm. All RC enthusiasts and/or friends and acquaintances of John A. Gorham are welcome. Also, any of you that have a Cricket are especially welcome!! We will be having a mini flyover and/or hover in his memory at the closing of the service. I am praying for good weather!!

Thanks for sharing that with us ... wish I could be there . as John meant a lot to me as a mentor to the hobby ,,wish I lived close to him and Robert as I am sure we would have been close friends ,,.but I am just about so far north and east as to be out of the country ..
