i decided to put together the shogun v2 i received as a gift several years back and i am having some trouble. i can't seem to get the tail rotor servo to move when i move the stick on the transmitter. it's a shogun v2 with a EF brushless motor and EF 20 amp brushless controller, a EF micro heading hold gyro p/n 444505 and a Berg 5-dspII receiver and Futaba 9C. i should add that the tail servo moves when the helicopter is yawed left and right just not when i want it to move with the transmitter stick. i hooked everything up through a futaba 401 gyro and everything works normally. i thought it was a bad "new" gyro so i bought another and the same thing happens. any help would be great.

yes definetely. i can get to work with the 401 but not much room for it on the heli. even while running it at "speed" the gyro will move the servo to counteract the force applied but just not with the stick. frustrating!

It must be in the Tx. Try putting any servo into CH 4 and see if it works, if not it's the TX.

yeah i can even plug the t. rotor servo directly to the receiver and it works fine but runing it throgh the gyro no dice, unless its the 401 like i said than it works. maybe some compatibility problem? servos are hitec and the gyro is EF. hate to have to buy another gyro.

I had an off the wall gyro a long time ago and it was hard to tell what way the connector went in for the servo. My thinking is that EF gyro is bad.

You do have the gain and the rudder in the right channels?

Do you have the same problem in both HH and rate modes?

Does your gyro have remote gain like the 401? I thought it did. My post above was about making sure you don't have the gain and rudder plugs of the gyro mixed up, because that will produce exactly your problem. The gain wire goes to channel 5 or 6 depending on the radio you have.

i've tried it with just the gyro plugged into ch 4 and the gyro gain wire not plugged in at all. does it have to plugged in to operate correctly? i thought the tail servo would at least operate

I've never seen a gyro that didn't still pass the rudder through with the gain unplugged - but I've not tried that specific gyro.

I think Heli770 might be right when he said
