As i"m about to buy the above helicopter in the next 24 hours, purely on the basis that its advertised at £156 in the U.K,myself and my friend thought this is worth taking a risk on a brand new machine and realise they will sell like hot cakes. My question is i"ve read that on Ely q"s site there is a small list of potential problems with this heli which i commend Ely Q for bringing to our attention (the buying public) i would like to know the problems that they list have they already been rectified in the U.K kits? Will upgraded versions become available in the near future? and if so is this passed onto everyone that has already bought a kit?or will there be a total price that can be given with regards to these parts in question. A response back from Ely Q would be ideal or any U.K shop that is selling this product.

Kind regards

Chris

we are yet to see a helicopter released without problem.but elyq have been honest saying there MAY be problems in some areas and take a look and take care..i think thats good of them rather than saying nothing..i sell them in the uk and will mention any problems we come across,,but to be honest it will take a while yet to get an accurate account of things..but at that price its a bargain i think

Hi Craig,

Yes your right i think its very good of Ely Q to make us aware, just by that very fact its a breath of fresh air to the model heli community. So do you think the vision 50 will be ok straight out of the box? I"m still going to buy one tommorrow whatever the outcome.

I think that I will buy one as well as I have a heli sized space on my shelf and I must put 900mm with a 100m cord so that I can dust them easier

Watch out here I come!!!!

this is supposed to be a serious thread

Here's a serious point. There are no thrust races in the tail and it is using the same type of long grub screws seen in the Raptor, you know the ones, the ones that snap !!! Is the omission of thrust races a good idea??

Up-grades needed straight away here

But the tail hub is SUS

Even with the above in mind, I've just bought an Ely-Q !! For £160, it can always go in the bin if it's that bad.

Well see.

the raptor 90 does not use thrust races and there is no issues with the tail locking etc..not an issue
also the raptor 90 hub was the problem not the 50..and was sorted in the 90 3d kits.im glad the machine is similar to the raptor its a proven design but lighter and with a more positive control system
just what people wanted..to be honest i think thunder tiger should have done this
regards craig simmons...ps at £160 its good..and if the hubs a problem for you buy the raptor 90 3d hub,,about £5 it fits ok

The hubs themselves are not a problem on a Raptor 50, it's the long grub screw that snaps. Changing to a SUS hub stops this because it uses a nut on the threaded SUS hub.

The Ely-Q uses an SUS hub, but still retains the grub screw system Lets hope they are using a better quality grub screw than the ones I used last time on my Titan. One snapped on the third tank of fuel running 1550 on the head while running in !!

maybe over stressing of the 3mm nut was the cause of that..just speculating herebut this has been the cause in the past
as mentioned there is another hub available that can be fitted to the elyq.but i dont see it as a issue..we have been running a very high rpm with no issue over the life of the raptor series..but fair comments tho mate

I've been owning, flying and fixing Raptors for the last 6 years, both mine and many other peoples. I've lost count of how many I've worked on. I tell you as a matter of fact, I did not over tighten the lock nuts on the grub screws. I'm more than familiar with over tightening nuts in that area. It was a quality issue on the grub screw that through the tail grip.

I just hope the Ely-Q has better quality screws.

also the raptor 90 hub was the problem not the 50..and was sorted in the 90 3d kits.

Raptor 30/50 use the same tail hub as the Raptor 60/90. The 90-3D kit comes with the PV0499 solid 1-piece tail hub which ALL raptor's should come with but don't.

Would be worth spending a few $$'s (or ££'s) for a TT PV0499 as the Q looks to have the old/bad PV0151 style tail hub that uses a hollow brittle black metal grub screw to hold the tail grips on.

Or better yet get the QUK or other brand tail hub that has thrust bearings - perhaps the Align tail grip assembly or Century tail hub/grip assembly.

here is a pix of the V1 R30 tail hub, stock PV0151 V2 tail hub and the PV0499 solid tail hub

out of curiousity I went and looked up the part on Elyq.com. Even has the same part number, 0151

Would have taken about 5 minutes of research to find out this is a bad design and not produced the kit with this part.

Hi guys, hope you change this part for the PV0499 real soon and increase the cost of the kit by the extra $ or 2 that it takes to make the change.

The description makes me shudder, this is NOT an upgrade. The hub material is NOT the problem on the PV0151, it's the design. SUS or aluminum, still BAD.

I really want this kit, I hope you'll have a distributor in the US soon!!
