Gohbee Aviation Stinger 30-90 > Stinger 50 too sensitive (solved)

I have two Gohbee 50's (ok after this past weekend one and a half) one is set up with JR nes 537 servos and a 401/9254 gyro set, the other has Futaba S3151's with a GY240 and S9255 (not a good rudder servo, but it is what I had on the shelf). Identical setups. The one with the JR servos is/was (dirt dart this weekend as a result of this issue) extremely sensitive/hard to control, I have the expos dialed back to 60 just to make it manageable to fly (did not carry them over to the idle ups which was a mistake). The one with the Futaba servos seems to be MUCH more stable, mind you I have not taken it out of a hover due to still dialing in the initial setup, but the JR one is almost impossible to control in a hover if no expos. I know that part of it is that I am more used to my 60/90s, but there has to be something that makes two identical birds fly completely different. Is it just the JR servos vice Futaba? Specs on the two servos if I remember correctly are very similar.

Any ideas on what to look at?

You might want to check for slop in the servos and if they feel good look for binding in the head. Make sure the links and pivot points are all moving smoothly. If the head is to tight with those relatively low torque servos you can really get a poor flying heli.

I have seen you fly! (quick hide before he chases us again) its you not the helio. You also should look at the length of your servo control arms. If they are to short it takes more TQ for the servos to move them and it can cause your bird to be a bit over active. Personal I think if you will upgrade to a better servo you will have better luck. I am guessing you are useing your Futaba 9Z so make sure your EXPOS are set to neg not to pos. If they are set to +60 that will make it hard to control.

I am back on RR again and will be back in the air this weekend weather depentent.

As was mentioned above;
Check all ball links to be sure that they are not tight. Especially if you go out in the cold, that will make them even tighter. A new stinger has very tight balls that need to be loosened up some.
The servos you have are minimal, and are not able to handle anything less than a perfect setup.
Make sure that you have the Expo going the right way.
If you changed them out, put the stock paddles back on.

Shipped the heli to Maryland hoping to get back there on this trip and fly it, but then had to have it shipped back to the West coast since the second half of this trip got cancelled, and figured what the heck, I'll try to get it in the air again. Swapped out all the servos for Futaba 9252s and then test flew it this morning (between rain storms), while I still have a bit of setup to do, the twitchiness is gone completely, very stable now. (and Eric, if you are reading this, yes I DO like having colored fuel in the tank, makes spotting the fuel level WAY easier!) Going to head out in the morning if the rain stops to finish setup and maybe get some light flying in.
