I have a mx450 that has the lower gear that drives the tail rotor belt that is rubbing against the underside of the upper main gear. It will leave white powder after I fly it and alot of the times the esc will shut down in mid flight due to what I believe to be an excess draw of current. Any one have this problem? I have had it apart and cant figure out how to fix it. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Jeff

Hey Jeff,

My mx450 did this too before. I'll bet that the anti-rotation bearing has slipped in the gear housing. They are really crappy gears and tend to "unscrew" from the plastic forcing the gears together. I had to screw it back in with come ca on it to make it stay.

It is not the 2 main gears that are rubbing, it is the the upper main gear against the small gear that drives the tail rotor belt. I took it all apart last night and still couldnt see anything wrong and wasnt able to improve it any. I bought this used and have never been able to get it right to fly reliably. It has been very frustrating.

Judging from the picture, the main/autorotation gears are
too far down in the frame. They should have nearly equal
clearance top and bottom where the upper frame is cut out
near the tail gear (where you took the pic). Someone may
have used the wrong bushing (too thick) between the one
way bearing and lower main bearing. Or, you might just need
to tighten the main shaft collar over the top main bearing
forcing the gears/main shaft upward. You'll have to set
zero pitch again once you get it right.

Well I figured it out tonight thanks for all of the advise. It ended up that the bearing was installed upside down in the gear. the gear has a taller shoulder on one side then the other which lowered it on the shaft and rubbing. Do you think that this rubbing would have overheated the esc and have it cut off? I have had this cut out while in a hover for no apparent reason. I really hope that this all works, I have never been able to do more then a hover with this one which has made the purchase very dissapointing.
Thanks
Jeff
