Rick,

Actually, I shoot ours every engine wash at 50 hour. I have to run it anyway to dry the engines. With the heli all hard wired it sure makes it simple. Plug and play baby.

I am with you on the TR hub. That really used to be a PIA man. I will venture to say the cable is right up there with some of the greatest inventions of all time.

I finished the stab structure and will be ready to bond it all together soon. How do the gaps look Rick? They will need a little adjustment I am sure.

I have blades ordered, main and tail. This monster will be turning 4 each 1000mm main blades and 4 each 150mm tail blades. I received a box full of 8717's a couple of days ago. the swash is 90 degree 4 servo CCPM so I am thinking the 8717 @ 6v should give me some control over this thing.

Also started working the IP. Plan to do it in 4 sections. The panel itself, center console, CB panel/Broom Closet, and overhead.

"OH SNAP" Seats. I have to make seats too.

"There may not be enough beer"

Happy 4th my Friends,

What do you say to that,

Thank You.

The way the tail was manufactured really gives the end builder a plethora of options on mounting. I went this way, which took a little thought, but I feel is going to work out very well.

Built some battery's yesterday. Took about 7 hours from start to finish. All 24 cells were matched under load and assembled into 2 packs. Each pack weight is 3.6 lbs for 12s 10000mah. Also got to work on the IP cutting out the displays. The IP is 225mm across so its really big. This should allow some nice detail.

For you instrument panel equipment, take some digital photos of the real thing, even pictures of the individual instruments, photoshop them to the required model size and paste them in place, color and all.
Probably already knew this but I'll throw it out there for every one.
.
EDIT: Your IP is large enough to populate with leds to give a 'live' look. On smaller panels (and before leds were around) I would drill small holes, plug with colored plastic, then use a light behind the panel to make the small plastic plugs light up.
.
2nd EDIT: 96 Volt system ! That is truely shocking ! (Pun intended).

looking great!

I am running 196 volts on a swiss catamaran, should push me over 110mph.

your hair stands up when you plug it in!, did you get my pic on how to avoid spark and damage to the caps/fets when hooking up? I would suggest it.

Holy batman, with things getting wet conductivity will be very good, so be careful what you touch !! (I am sure you are.) Also a slip and short and you will be blind for awhile. I'v done that when welding.

Sandy,

Yes I did get the diagram and it is in the works.

Barry did a great Job on the battery's. It was nice to see how they go together. Each pack is 160mm X 95mm X 50mm and contain 12 3.7v 5000mah cells.

All the pieces are coming together little by little.

Blades

Hello Butch:

Your S-76 is looking great! I have been following your build from the begining. I really like those PEKA mechanics; they look very capeable. Do you have a projected completed weight?

I have started building the plug for my 1/6th AH-56 Cheyenne. I see that you have a set of 1000mm blades on order. Are they a matched set of four, and if you don't mind my asking: where did you order them from? That is about the blade length that I will need for the Cheyenne. I am also thinking about machining out a scale looking head for my build.

Is it just me, I thought all Helicopters flew in 3D......Hmmmm?

Been away for work the past couple of weeks. This work stuff really puts a damper on my model building.

I did receive the ESC while I was away. Another piece of the puzzle.

First time you power up that ESC, Homeland Defense is going to knock on your door asking why the lights dimmed all over Long Island. Now that's what I call an ESC.

garyl,

yes the controller did come with the CC type programmer. I believe there is a computer program which I will look into. I am also looking at the Eagle Tree for data records. I am thinking with a ship of such, more info is better.

aashu,

The cost of the e-Mechanics vary. To get the current price, give Sandy and V-East a call or e mail him

We have had a lot going on over the past several weeks, some good some bad.

I have been able to chop away at the IP for my Scale Jet 76 here and there. I should have the blades the end of August. The plan is to have it ready for flight by the time they arrive. The gear may not be functional and the doors may not be installed but have enough stuff on it to hover and possibly fly.

Some pics of the IP and the displays.

Got to love the detail. You even have the map display right over your home base - Long Island.
