That is a darn nice 4-bladed head. What diameter is the rotor shaft? Is the head available for purchase separately?

Hello,

Thanks Stan for the comments. I will give it my shot that's for sure.
Pat, The main rotor shaft is 12mm. I believe it can be purchased separately through ScaleJet. It is a very simple unit. The grips are 14mm and the diameter of the head, bolt to bolt is right at 250mm.

This install will be really simple. The forward weight is wonderful. That is really going to change the dynamic of this heli. The batts will mount on either side of the side frames and allow a huge adjustment for CG.

The tail drive is about an inch higher off the mechanics that the turbine. This will not be a big issue however there will be a little modification to the most aft bulkhead. I placed a 3/16 block under the aft side it the mechanic rails which gave about a 2 degree tilt on the rotor mast.

Some pics with the cowls just set in place.

It's like those guys made that mechanics around that ship..Any little bit of cutting for the cable drive, the dog house will cover..In fact that will be the start of the S curve for the cable sheath, being it's a raised tail. You are going to have so much room for interior detail...sick man!!!!Question! do you have a weight diff. between the turbine and the E mechanics? I kinda figure the cells will be the same weight as the fuel and tanks plus all the support batteries and other stuff...Kevin

I do not have the weight of the turbine. I plan to weigh the mechanics but just have not gotten there just yet. The spec for the basic weight difference is about 6 lbs less. That does not include any detail just the basic aircraft.

As for detail, I plan to only do the cockpit. The full scale has a bulkhead which separates the cabin from the cockpit. The cockpit doors will be hinged to open for static. The cabin doors I am thinking along the line of just securing for flight but having completely removable for access.

I am still in the thought process about the race-car or dog house. I would rather not be required to remove the head for access but have yet to come up with a good plan. This is what they make beer and a stool for.

well that is alot of weight savings, 6 lbs. thats really what I wanted to know. As far as not removing the head, split the upper cowling like we did on the NH-90.....or not, just a though..some body probably makes a small type of fastener like a zuz 1/4 turn screw.. maybe the scale train guys have some thing like that.

Your 12S 10,000mAh battery requirements will add 6 lbs back into your total, that is some serious power. I wonder what your flight time will be.

OK So like,

I had this thought about 2 months ago of getting a Mohawk. Was in Florida this past weekend and my son Jamie was so impressed with his cool Dad, he had to have one too. Guess I did a good job when my kids tell me I am the biggest kid they know.

OK back to business here,

Don't you hate it when you run out of clamps.

I did a major bond today. The main rails and the upper structure. Because I switched gears from turbine to e-Power, I had to modify the upper structure to clear the motor fan. This was a pretty simple mod and came out nice.

I checked and double checked the mast angle, 4 degrees. I thought it would be a good time to get a weight of this monster as well. I weighed the mechanics as seen in the photos and they tipped the scale at 9.25lbs.

I checked the weight today with the mechanics set in the fuse with rotor head and swash, landing gear, all 3 gear servos, tail gear box and tail head, tail flex drive just kind of sitting there and it tipped the scale right at 20 lbs. Add about 5 lbs of batteries and a few more pounds for the cowls, hardware etc, well do the math.

Here are a few photos of the day work and a photo of my Gay Rearwin Speedster

UIH,

Butch

Thanks guys,

I know this is a bit off the topic but worth every letter. I am a very proud father that for sure.

I am thinking we look a little alike. Very proud of him. Jamie works for Sikorsky in West Palm as an avionics installer and tech. He even flies a T-Rex 500 and pretty good at it too

I cant pass up my daughter. She is in her first year of collage and doing very well. Lindsey works at being a good student and sucking money from the old man. How can a dad resist.

Their mother and I parted ways some 20 years ago but we did good buy our kids.

Good job Mom,

Butch

Nice Job Butch!!!

Hey there is nothing wrong with being proud of your kids.... the only thing wrong with them is that they grow up way too fast.... enjoy your time with them.....
