Except for the large and heavy blocks of lipo batteries! The challenge is to hide and secure it, yet still make it easily removable for charging, since it is not safe to charge them while inside the fuse.

I am using A123 packs in a couple of my bigger scale e-helis with good results. It's easy to put the battery cells where other things are not, keeping balance in mind, and then fast charge them in place. This solves a lot of problems and is a hell of a lot safer. Build conformal A123 packs and enjoy trouble free charging and flying.

All good stuff Gents,

The turbine installation on the Scale Jet 76 is actually a very nice install. The exhaust would be off and complex, but over all it looked very do-able. There is a lot of room inside the cabin area to mount all the turbine goodies. The way the structure is designed, to have a completed cabin is not in the Tea Leaves, e-Power or turbine.

Going e-Power will allow for a more scale exhaust. Not having about 1.5 liters of Jet-A, the Bar-B-Q gas tank, a header tank, some valves, a FADEC, tubing etc, on either side of the mechanics, you have many options for battery placement to adjust for CG and easy access for what ever battery system used. Even with the battery weight, the overall system is lighter and produces more power.

Turbine or e-Power, there is a ton room for cockpit detail. With the bulkhead between the cockpit and cabin, all the stuff will be out of sight out of mind.

Wait....

Is that the FedEx biotch.

ZERO

I got a package today and guess what it is.

The e-Power mechanics for my Scale Jet 76

What a work of art. I removed them from the packing kind of threw them together to see what they looks like all together. I cant wait to get home and plop them into the fuse.

The tail drive coupling is really cool

No

The ESC uses a soft start which actually spools the head up very nice.

Christmas in May....AWESOME. Keep the pics coming Butch. Can you please take some video on spool up if you are going to test it outside of the fuse?

Sorry for being dumb, but if its a scale turbine helicopter why does it have an electric motor on it as well?

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

"UIH"

Got this stuff home. Work is really going to ps me off now, that's for sure. A few things. Patrick, I started this as a turbine and had every intention to complete it as such. There are actually several reasons I changed gears mid stream. There was not one major reason not to finish as planned but several. Both have advantages and disadvantages. One big issue for me on Long Island, where can I fly a turbine. There are places true, but as we all know planes are gay, and sometimes, gay planes and helis do not mix. (Note to self), " I hope the 80" Rearwin Speedster with the Saito 125 4 stroke does not show up in the pictures"

Wemo, Yes I will shoot some vids. I want to see that sumbitch spool up as much as you do.

These mechanics are...industrial. Not sure how else to put it. I just kind of slapped then together for pics, but right off the bat this is some nice stuff.

I had a hard time choosing what photos to post, so I came to a conclusion, just figging post them all.

Butch , very nice mechs and build , but what worries me are the two exposed bevel gears , like the old Kavan's , if I remember , won't the dust etc , cause undue wear there!
Dave.

WHAT GOES UP MUST SURELY COME DOWN.

the only thing going to wear out a set of 20mm helical metal gears is if you pure sand on them ....double gear reduction, plus the E motor puts out 8 hp, motor up front for C.G., kick a$$ cable drive coupler, a proper size swash plate to the blade grips, .....I think I just had the big O....Kevin

Unless that motor is a heck of a sight bigger than it look in the pictures, I can't see it putting out 8HP.

If it did, on a 10s lipo at 80% efficiency it would be running nearly 200 amps continuously.

Thats a serious battery and an even more serious ESC

Butch, do you have the make and model of the motor, cos if it makes 8HP, I WANT ONE

Exposed gears, hummm good one. They are pretty massive but you do have a point there. I may look into making a cover of some sort for protection. The gears do require lube. Due to this they could collect debris.

I will get the Dog House on for some pics next week. I am taking a little trip to FL this weekend but will "Giter done"

Peter. it does indeed make 8 hp, 12s lipos, 30c , 10,000mah
the controller is rated well above 275 amps min. I will have those specs soon.

also 1000mm main blades at 1000 rpm.

The first RTF Model will be delivered in June in the USA.
Three more RTF'S are already under construction.
