when i did my apache cockpit i sent it to holland to print.
need to have more stuff done and would like to order in the us to get a quicker turn around. they do good work though...

Thanks Emile,

That Comanche kicked my a$$ for sure but there are a couple of good side to that project. The mechanics with the 5 blade head and 8 blade tail are flying great, and I learned what "not" to do. LOL It will return someday.

I had a really good base to start from with the Scale Jet. All I had to do was assemble the pieces. Watching and following other builds, I have really picked up a lot of ideas and folks throwing in there 2 cents from time to time, helps to get out of the box. I have a flying "blue print" I get to fondle every day which also helps.

One huge factor, Ro supports this madness and is the "critic" of everything. If she don't like it, I have to do it again until I get it right.

That was the firs scale thread I subscribed to. I have to say though, I think the big Ski is gonna be even sweeter!!! I'll bet you don't regret bypassing the turbine route huh?? It is looking SWEEEET!!

If I had gone turbine power, it would still be sitting on the bench getting ready for flight.

Going ePower was the best thing I could have ever done with the Scale Jet 76

The Duke will come back some day that's for sure. I am not one to give up on a project. When it returns it will be better than ever.

Hawk079,

Yes, I have been using the BVM Areo Poxy for all the wood and carbon structure. The BVM is really strong however the main reason I used it was because of the cool gun and self mixing applicator tips. The tips come in different lengths and make applying the glue very easy and gives a nice fillet when complete.

That "B" Model sure is sexy!!!

That nose, those scoops. The Big exhaust, 135 degree doors, WSPS, FLIR, Ice detector, (don't see many of those on the 76)

A perfect example of what a S-76 should be

In my not so many years for Scale helicopter Modeling, rivets have always been a bit on the tough side. I have used the glue with the syringe, the stick on, but never tried the single glue on, ("single rivet at a time, that makes you cross-eyed because they are so small, that seems it would take an eternity, or longer, just to do one row, and how do you hold those little things and place them in just right position, and not get glue all over you fingers and keep everything looking good so sanding and prep work is not and angry session of modeling but something to look forward to" ) rivets.

The S-76 only has round head type fasteners on the tail pylon, all other rivets are flush for that "Fast, Sleek, Smooth" look.

On my Scale Jet 76 I chose to use the glue on rivets because there are not that many. It is a little time consuming and tedious but the look is right on. This is about an hour of work once the pattern was laid out.

Have a look.

Butch

Emile,

I can agree with you there. Ro has been flashing her new 3KT Bling in my eyes which messes me up from time to time.

"OH SNAP", I forgot. I did not mention in the open forum,

I asked Ro to marry me... and she said... YES!!!

I could not be more lucky that's for sure. Not only can she fly a heli, swing a hammer, run a sawzall, weld, a master with a chain saw, melt glass and make sculpture, she is my flight coach and critic, the QA department for my builds, and most of all, my buddy and best friend.

I have been working on the light bases. The Electro Dynamics lights are a touch on the big side however the are a wide angle 110 degree Sun-Vis lighting. The bases on the TGB I made of Basswood. Not to bad but when it gets that small it get very fragile. I had to come up with something else for the mounts for the stab.

I ended up mixing some casting fluid I use to make the IP, and poured it into a small servo box like thing to about 5mm thick. Once it cured, I machined the stab light bases out of that. It actually worked out very well. The light bases fit perfect in the hole and can be held in with Elmer's or Canopy glue.

Some pics,

Butch
