CYAG: This one's for you Wellmaker

Butch has been bugging me to post on runryder so I thought for my first post I'd begin by commenting on the S-76.

To those of you who can only experience this build from Runryder, all I can say is you are missing out! The Pictures do not do justice. I am one of the fortuante few to see this bird as it goes together first hand, and It's an incredible piece of work and will be amazing to see flying. Awesome work Butch! I get second flight right?

Also, I'd like to clear something up.. It is my understanding that many do not know that Butch Pioneered a heli manuever in his early RC helicopter "career". Its a manuever that is widely used today.. many of us perform it and never known its origins..As Butch is more widely known for his SCALE flying, this little nugget of sport flying has slipped thru the cracks without Butch getting the proper credit.

So here it is: OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED.
THE WELLMAKER
From level flight, roll the heli inverted pushing the tail down,
With the heli upside down with the underside of the nose at 2 o'clock
push negative collective into a climb.
while climbing, piro the tail around 90 degrees or 270 for an advanced "WELLMAKER"
Complete the wellmaker by adding aft cyclic and positive collective to rotate back over.

So those of you performing this "ground breaking" (pun intended) manuever, please give credit where credit is due.. (that means you Youngblood..)

Ok Butch, first post under my belt! How'd I do?
I'm thinking for my next post I'd discuss the mint mouth spray you recently aquired..

Kaango,

But of course. MK a fellow 76 pilot and owner.

sgfromny,

For only your second post, not bad. Yes, you can have the second flight just bring your check book, no wait, bring cash.

Clearly,

B

Kris,

I really don't think you will ever see this to the now "Infamous Wellmaker" friggin Gaf-e-o.

Michael,

I have sniffed more Jet fuel than should ever be allowed.

It was time, time to put the gear to the test. there are still some adjustments that need to be made but it moves and the radio is programmed. This model has servos to retract the doors and separate servos to retract the gear legs. I have yet to wonder beyond just getting the gear to work but would like to explore the possibility of the door closing mechanically. I don't know but its a thought.

Here is a YouTube vid. If I can get it here I will if not I will post the link.

Hey Butch,

That gear really has a scale look and feel to it. When you add the sequencing doors that will put it over the top. Well done! Makes me want to swing the gear on my project, but that is down the road a bit.
By the way what is the length on that bad boy, it looks to be about 8' ??

Cheers

Richard

Is it just me, I thought all Helicopters flew in 3D......Hmmmm?

What am I doing wrong? Why is the vid not there.
Help Me, Help Me,

Thanks Richard,

We will see how the doors go. All the incidentals will come in due time. Like when "ITS FREEZING OUT SIDE"

This fuse is 84 inches in length. I have 15'x4 of work bench and it takes up one entire end. Once I put the 1000mm blades on this beast it may be a little overwhelming.

Sequencer

Butch,

The guys in Germany could not get the 9303 to properly sequence the gear and doors so I ended up buying a 14MZ and sending it over there. Before they did that, however, they bought (with my money) a Jetronic/Robbe sequencer, which I now have but don't need.

I can give it to you if you need it to get your doors and gears to work...just LMK -- it's brand spankin' new!

Rick,

Thanks for hooking a DA up and inbeddeding the vid. I have the John Scheer stuff on order.

MK,

Thanks for the offer. Let me see what I can come up with for the doors on the mechanical side. I really have not looked very deeply into my Resin Ball, but I believe if there is the will, there is a Ducks A$$ who will find the way.

I will be with the MADD SCIENTIST this afternoon

I will be in touch,

Butch

You are right, that is a melon head. Too Late you are now a star.

I had nyampdude build a spark suppressor. With 2 each, 10,000mah battery's I was thinking there would be a pretty, Hefty Hefty Hefty arch but we want, Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy.

couple of pics,

Butch

Thanks Sean,

It looks pretty cool I think.

I will look you up when I get back to SoCal.

About the only thing left to route is the 4 satilite recivers and the lighting. Going e-Power has really simplifed things.

Got this monster powered and turned the head today. First we ran it on 1 battery to ensure the motor direction was correct and everything was in order. We hooked up both battery's and ran it to about 1/2 throttle.

This thing sounds AWSOME. The first vid is with one battery, the second longer one is with all 44V 10,000Mah
