Thanks for the comments. There is still a long way to go but it is coming together piece by piece.

Darth,

I plan to make a silicone mold when complete. I am still in the process of of building the IP so I am sure there may be some changes. I am looking at a couple of way to back light the panel but have not made a firm choice.

I have ESC and battery support structure installed. I still have to install the decks for the batts which I plan to use Velcro straps to hold them in place.

A couple of shots.

I have been home for the past week or so. Girlfriend had some surgery last Tuesday, came home Wednesday evening and I have been keeping an eye on her. She has been sleeping a lot which has given me time to, well do what heliguys do.

I have been able to tie up many loose ends as seen in the previous post with the battery and ESC installation. I made a mock-up slider and spacer for the tail. The control bell crank and slider I have is a prototype from way back. The new version is more of what you see here.

I installed some "Jewl-ery" in the form of 5, 8717. One for the tail, and 4 for the swash. I also installed the carbon tail control rod. I am not sure I like the angle of the input rods from the servos to the swash. This could be corrected buy installing a longer ball on the swash. Once everything is powered up and I get a chance to overview the geometry, we will see where we go from there.

I have a JR 1222 RX and 2, 6010 regulators on the way. I will be running 2, 7.4, not sure what mah, lipos battery's into this RX and regs. I have not purchased a gyro for the tail. I like the 401 for its simplicity. Its a good gyro for scale stuff for sure, but when I flip this upside down, doing rearward flight at mach .63 with 720 degree per second piros I am thinking it could blow out.

Here are some photos of where it is today. It is starting to look like something.

Is that a nice follower or what? Notice who make it...

Butch

Hello folks,

Girlfriend is doing well and getting better as each day goes by. She has a clean bill of health. We are very very Thankful for your thoughts and prayers.

All that bling I purchased sometime ago, well I have been trying to find a good place for it all. It looks a lot worst than it really is. It is a bit of a rats nest at the moment.

I did power the flight controls last night. Everything moves just like it is supposed to. I did replace all the bearings in the tail grips with ABEC#7. The tail as I have mentioned before is a prototype. It has been around waiting for awhile to be used. The bearings felt a touch rough so it was a good reason to change/upgrade them. I have also been working on the plug for the center console and IP.

Are you sure you want to do this - 8717 on the tail ?

mdu6,

I chose the 8717 for its torque, not so much its speed. The tail rotor diameter is over 16". I am always open to any suggestion or other approaches, concerns of fellow modelers. That's one really big reason I post here. Every little bit helps.

There is a wealth of experience out there, why not use it.

Thanks,

Butch

CYAG

Hey graf, that's for you.

Did a little tidying of the wiring harness and mounted the 1222RX. Did some more work on the center console plug. I biffed one hole it was the second to the last.

The green "Roundit" the harness is covered with, is a Nomex fabric that holds it shape with a fishing line type coil embedded. Its pretty cool stuff and much softer than spiral wrap. makes for a pretty clean install.

Some snaps

Butch

Butch,

Under the new fairness doctorine that the Obama wants, you must give up 2/3's of your skill and give it to the undeserving!!!

SO GIVE IT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful work

Very sanitary Butch. The inside of your USMC Super Cobra that I now own shows the same methodical attention to functional detail.

Thanks Boyd,

I try to keep stuff clean and maintenance friendly.

chprman,

You are correct. Those who have, should give to those who have not. There is no need to work for what one receives. Simply because we are Americans, we should receive the things we require, not need, to sustain a way of life, where as, I want, and or, need for nothing, at the cost of the tax payer/government and or, those who have more than any one person and or a collective of other people and or persons.

Please, at your leisure, make the trip from the California, here to New York. Collect all your expenses along the way for 2/3 reimbursement, under the rules set forth by said "Obama Fairness Doctrine" upon your arrival.

I will greet you with 2/3 open arms, 2/3 food, give up 2/3 of my home for your comfort, compensate you 2/3 for your troubles and a 2/3 warm welcome.

Please, at any time, feel free to stop buy and collect 2/3 of what is rightfully part yours under The Doctrine

PS.

Proud, "Over The Top" supporter of my 2ND Amendment right.

Please, call prior you arrival. I will need to secure my 120LB Akita, who has a diet of raw meat, in a safe place to ensure your safety in case I miss, (your arrival) If you feel the need to expeditiously depart, or find yourself lost in your new surroundings, My Blood Hound will find you.

This is a total parody but way funny.

Thanks for the comments.

Giving to those who don't earn it

C'mon now Butch, aren't you being a bit hard-nosed here? Think about it. If you give your heli to Chapman, you can fly down to Florida at Peter Wales' expense and get his new Alouette! It's a government-sponsored circle jerk!

: )

Kaango,

Hummmmm,

I never thought of it that way. Just never thought of my self "taking" and not working for what I have.

South Florida, I am coming home. Peter, I want my 2/3's. LOL

cptn,

We are getting close. I have begun the final assembly for test runs.
