Scale Jet 76 Build

Well Well Well,

I have closed the previous thread on the ScaleJet 76. I had not received all the pieces during those post, however we now have a different story. I have everything in house. There is no excuses now.

There has been some pretty big personal changes over the past several months. I spent 8 weeks in Long Beach California with a great bunch of heli guys, over off Carson St. One nut case even let me fly his heli. Thanks Greg. I also got the chance to visit our good friend Dr.Tim. He stuffed me with some really good food the Boss made. Tim, I really like the dog, but you have to get a handle on him humping my leg. Don't let Tim fool you, he wears the pants in his family. His Bride and all those girls give him permission to do so. After feasting, we drank his sons warm beer until I just cant remember WTF was going on. Tim tried to give me one of his hats but its pretty hard to fill one of those. Plus they are really F-n UGLY. Dude you rock, thanks for everything. Got the chance to attend the LA3D Classic before Cali caught on fire, made it to 51K in a G-550, lost a really good job, landed another job so here we are.

The purpose of this post: ScaleJet 76

I got some time to start the build. I modified the forward structure so I can install a cockpit floor. Sandman, I am not sure just what you were thinking when you designed this thing, but Good F-n Job. the structure, cowls, doors, incredible. I truly hope I can do this model justice.

A couple of pics.

Oh and by the way, this thing is a MONSTER. My R-50 looks like a 450 Rex sitting next to this thing.

More to come,

Butch

Made the plugs for the stringers and fit the main landing gear servo decks. I like the way ScaleJet makes these decks a bit over size and can be trimmed to fit. The fuel tank deck's are the same and go in the area forward of the gear servo decks but will be mounted closer to the fuse bottom.

Looks Good Butch! Can't wait to see it progress. By the way.... what is with the 5-bladed head on the R50? Just parking it there or does it fly like that?

Kmbeers,

Thanks. It will be a long process I am sure. I have a blast with my 5 blade R-50. I am only using a Helitronix mixer for phasing with no gyro on the main rotor and it flies great. It has 30 gearing, 515 blades and turning the head at 1450. I did just set it here for a size reference.

lookigg good man. is the nose gear shock absorbing? i noticed on the one sandy built and flew that while in the hover, the nose wheel looked a little short. it didnt seem to extend from the release of the weight like the mains appeard to have, so i wondered.

The Gear Master,

How is it going Emile?

You are correct. The nose gear is not absorbing. I have looked at the gear but not looked closely enough to see if this is something I can mod. I would like to see it stroke about 3/8 of an inch to match the mains. We will see.

yeah buddy, looking at full size machines give you plenty ideas for your projects. the s-76's gear is more complex than it looks. the f/A-18 is more puzzling than complex. it has links all over it that is very hard to determine their purpose.
