The tail either drifts or hunts. This is the frist time I am completely stumped on solving this problem and setting up the heli properly.

I used a 5mm servo arm because I canít see any way of reducing the servo throw in the usual way, although I can program the servo. I doubt using a longer arm will help the problem.

DS09GMD Tail Servo - no backlash on servo output, 0.05s (60˚/s) and 1Kgcm @ 5.5V
Align Head Lock Gyro RCE 500
5mm Servo Arm
Tried turning the gain in HH mode down to 20%

I've got the gyro mounted on top of the tray with 3mm tape because the long receiver stops me putting it underneath. Going to change the Rx next and mount it on the side of the frame and put the gyro underneath but there's no reason it's going to solve it, just knowing helis a small change can make all the difference.

I'll post some pics tonight.

What I've just done is mount the Rx on the side which allows me to put the gyro under the tray (as flimsy as it is) and turning the gain in rate mode down to 30% and 20% in HH seems to have almost solved it. But the tail does not feel secure and I'm holding in right-tail on the stick to hover for now, the tail's really not locked in at all. Above 20% in HH and it hunts.

There's also a gain pot on the RCE 500 Gyro - How does this work in conjunction with the Tx gain??? (Been using GY240's, 401's, 502's, 611's and JR770's upto now).

Since it's raining cats-n-dogs I'm hovering in the warehouse, surrounded by boxes just to set it up - do tiny helis get effected by their own rotor wash? I ask because it jumps around something crazy at times. I've done a range check with the aerial down and the motor upto speed and the servos are well behaved.

Just for you what_the_heli

Put a Spartan gyro in there! The little helis really do benefit from a good gyro and super fast tail servo but I see you already have the fast servo covered.

I see your problem, judging from your pics the heli doesn't appear to be assembled properly

Yeah like Richardmid1 suggested try putting a better gyro in there. If you can get hold of the new align one its already proven to fly great in the 250 (going by the vids)

Or CSM 420e or 560 Micro as they are very light, 11g I believe, but the new Align gyro is the cheapest option.

Haha yes the 200 seperate parts parts to be flying in close formation were not fitted so closely at that point in time. Mark says I can't post pics as I work for a place that sells them, altough we don't ship to the US And I havn't told you who is selling them.

I will bash on about getting a Spartan after seeing the Bert Krammerer videos or the new Align 750. I remember fitting a JR G410T to a protech 400 about 4 years ago - wow what a difference. That was that problem solved! Hope it works again. The boss gets pissy because he doesn't want to know the details and I feel guitly because it's a huge cost just to do some motor and battery testing.

Maybe one day he'll get into helis and change his tune...

Stock GP750 gyro, Stock DS420servo
Please send me 10.00 dollars for my fix....
I tried new tail blade grips (weighted ones from Align)
New T/R Blades...36mm.. 40..42..even cut to 34
JR tail servo (forgot number)
New metal gears for belt drive
Loosen belt/tighten belt
Turned gyro settings down til the tail blew out...up till it wagged out of control!
Headspeed... I am not turning mine down for anything!!

Tried everything mentioned in this and other forums.......to no avail. Some things made it a little better, but not to a point where I felt it should be.

Now my DX7 is set at 48 H/H
Tail like a rock... turn it up to 56 to see wag again.
Just finially flew it in my living room!!

Wait....Mabe I should sell this easy fix to ALIGN!!!!!

Go to speed control setup and change output to 5.5 instead of 6.0v, or try a stepdown!

Like Elvis said.."Thank You....Thank You very much" !!!
