oh yes, thats exactly what I'm after. I am using 2 analouge robotic servos & no stabilisation of any type. Please put me down for one.

i have given up on Angelos. DO YOU HEAR THAT, ANGELOS??? i hope your gyro was worth it.

I love it, a couple of years ago he was god now you want to throw him under a bus. You got to love the loyalty in this hobby.

I'm a nobody, and most certainly not a moderator or so....
But I really do not like hearing stuff like the comment above.
People like Colin Mills ( CSM ), JohnC ( Carvec ), and
Angelos ( Spartan ) should really and truly, only be thanked for the innovation and great products that they brought and will still bring to this hobby.
Developing a good product and releasing it to public use is a VERY time consuming and daunting task. I hope you get the drift. Pardon the Pun !!

In every post there is something to be learned if your mind is open to see it. At times my own mind is closed and I do not want to read another thought from individuals just based from previous postings, but the capacity for new ideas comes from all sources and even postings which one can consider negative can spark a new idea or open up a new way of seeing something...
Unfortunately, for you, your posts does not.

In this case AceBird is correct.

Yes, Angelos has said he's developing a gyro to go along with the AP200i and we haven't seen it yet. It may not come to market, only Angelos knows.
I haven't given up on the guy, I like his products. What does anyone know about what he's doing or working on? The guy had an idea for a gyro that he knew was really good and a chance to make some money from his thinking, maybe this was the basis for the gyro for the AP2000i and he saw the potential in it. I'm sitting in my chair here and if I had something I could sell to a limited market and make some money or if I tweak it a litte more and be able to sell it to a bigger market and maybe make some more money finally after spending so much time in developing it I'd go for the money and so would any of you guys and you know it.
These innovators that are making our lives more fun are just like everyone else here with the same bills to pay...If Angelos has a chance to make money, great!
It's frustrating waiting for something that you want, but look on the bright side, having to fly without it probably increased most guys flying skills!

George- if you are using this as a feasibility study to see if it is worth while going into production, I want two!

It can't be a feasibility study unless you know what the end cost will be. If it turns out to be 2k a piece do you still want two?

Hello George

this is very impressive work you've done!
I'm new to this forum, I have been a lurker for a while and decided to join a few days ago as this seems to be the place.
I have been looking for a proper way to gyro stabilize my camera mount for so long now, read hundreds of posts, ate too many Advils after spending too much time on the computer, it seems like my quest has led me somewhere of GREAT interest today!
Thanks to you, I might slow down my consumption of pain killers soon ;-)

Count me in when you decide to sell or beta-test your units:-)

Advil = Ibuprofen, not a too sexy substance in fact, just a good alternativ to aspirin.
I understand your concern about soldering SMD, I just bought myself a nice pair of magnifying glasses for this kind of work.
The counterpart to getting wise and experienced as they say, is getting blind as well.
Good luck with your project.

PS: If you need help, I'll be happy to jump in the first plane to Malta, nice place you live at ;-)

George, great devices you've got there. Just like bobtitus I too have been looking for a good method to stabilize my PTR camera platforms. Count me in for 4!

In the last weeks, I have been re-writing the code for these IMU's so that they are easier to set up, and can be fitted to a variety of mounts.. both direct servo driven, and geared versions

I am awaiting the pcb's to arrive for the new re-design, some delicate soldering over the christmas log , and then, hopefully some nice videos to watch. Thanks for waiting!!

mdickers.. 4. OK.

Hi Chris..

It works just like your ordinary non HH gyro, the only difference, is there is absolutely no drift.

Therefore, you can mount it, One axis out from what it is controlling if using a non modified servo, or ON AXIS if using a Continuous Rotation modified servo. Using the latest firmware, you can also mount it On axis also if you have a non modified servo.

geared servos

Hi George,

then is there a problem with using geared servos. I was going to use a sail winch servo that has 3.5 turns for roll driving a belt that goes around my roll axis. how do you make sure the imu tells the servo to move the correct amount if the sensor is not on the axis being leveled? is there an adjustment for that?

thanks chris

duh! saw your earlier post about geared servos. never mind. i can see why it goes one axis removed. even with angleos's vision lock which was a huge improvement i still got occilations when the gain was high enough to cancel the movement.

are analog servos ok?

a couple more questions

Hi George,

a couple more questions came to mind.

1. does it work like vision lock in that it will stablize at what ever position you release the stick?

2. do the trims still work so you can level the camera?

3. does the mount need to be level when you turn it on every time or to you calibrate it once so it knows what level is?

4. is it compatible with 2.4 ghz ie. spectrum?

5. is 6 volts ok?

6. do you plan on being able to adj gain with a radio channel?

thanks
chris

Hi,

1, Yes. with your stick movement, you are requesting slew rate.
When you release the stick, the axis does not move. Obviously, the servo is still under the control of the IMU, and will therefore correct angle if the mount is moved.

2,Trims work, and are very accurate ( noticeable ).

3, Good Question. Calibration is done once in initial programming.
Therefore good for "on boat in rough sea takeoff" if you know what I mean.
Been there, done it.

4, It is compatible with every brand that can work a standard servo.

5, 6 Volts is OK too, if its ok for your servo!!.

6, I wasn't initially, but many PM's and emails later, yes.

Thanks for your questions.

George
