Hi...

While I have not posted here for a very long while...
I'd like to share this item that I'm developing.
It's still in the early development stage. That's why it looks big and untidy

Its the software combination of a gyro and accelerometers to provide a good idea of artificial horizon. This is the starting point of any stabilization system.

The upcoming item is a little unit that will allow a single axis to be stabilized in relation to the IMU data. The control input shall be single PPM channel for a single axis, or a PPM stream for 3 axis and camera control.

Its basic function shall be to stabilize, without any drift, the platform or axis to which it is attached to.

Just like Angelos's promised INS-1, which we've been patiently waiting for, but has till now not arrived.

Probably it'll have some nice extra features. Still to decide which !!

Thanks for watching !

I love threads like this!

Do you have any plans for any co-opertation with other suppliers like fex Eagletree so you can implement this device into other already nice developed equipment?

Or, tell us more how and what this will work together with

This is the solution that we all have been waiting for. Gyro mount that actually works the way they should.

Freaking fantastic work.
Reminds me of the Head Tracker. Gyro drift was an issue with that one, which constantly needed re-setting.

No gyro drift in this one. Solid as a rock.

I already have a standalone working prototype.
When used on the horizontal axis, the camera will remain level even for more than 1 hour without any trim or tweak to the control.

Since cost is the limiting factor whether a product will be purchased or not, I am using cheaper stuff to try to come to an affordable solution.
Just bear in mind that a simple, readily available, off the shelf 1DOF IMU costs $109 in sensors alone.

>>Do you have any plans for any co-operation with other suppliers like fex Eagletree so you can implement this device into other already nice developed equipment?<<

No contact established with any other manufacturer.
However I will look into prospects and possibilities.
My ideal is to make a working product for my own use, and perhaps do a small run of these units if there is a demand.

I would like this thread to lead to comments of what specific users might want or wish if they were to purchase this unit.
This will streamline the process and make a unit that meets up to user's requests.

i have given up on Angelos. DO YOU HEAR THAT, ANGELOS??? i hope your gyro was worth it.

there are SEVERAL gyros on the market but hardly any inertial sensors. it makes TOTAL sense to make another gyro and compete with other gyro manufacturers - even IF yours is incrementally better.

George - you get this thing up and running and you will have ALOT of happy paying people to contend with.

Sorry for being off topic, but I second that.
What pisses me off is Spartan sold us 40 bucks USB links for an upgrade download that never came.

Drift free inertial sensor. Yeah, I'd buy it.

Me personally, I'd rather see a reliable product then cheaper for the long run. I know what your saying about affordable though.

hey, I wish I had your brains for what your doing, it's great stuff!

Looks awesome! However, I noticed you were testing it in Europe, I think you should send me one so we can make sure it works OK in the States... Colorado specifically... on my heli.

Count me in too If You keep the costs reasonable and show us some real world tests(using servo on axis) i will be very happy to buy it for my 2 axis camera mount.

George, i second Seablade, im willing to pay at least twice to get the best quality, rather than saving some bucks, cause this is an essential device, and are worth the money if it is as good as i sounds, IMO

I have a couple CopterWorks 3 axis gimbals that would benefit from this. I'd take a few as well. Beta or production...you name the price and list a paypal account and the funds will be there.

I suspect that you'd make more money if this were part of the Eagle Tree line...like the OSD Pro with some sort of autopilot. Still, I'd buy it as a stand alone product as well.

The beatings will continue until morale improves...

Nothing wrong with sourcing less expensive parts if reasonable reliability can be maintained. If it were intended for stabilizing the heli itself, I could see being more demanding as you'll want a higher factor of reliability.

Good stuff, none the less. Keep it up.

>>Nothing wrong with sourcing less expensive parts if reasonable reliability can be maintained. <<

Very True.
In fact I'd really like to find a good ( read cheap) source of Tokin CG-16D gyros..
This is almost the same sensor used in all pre GY401 era gyros.. example PG-03, PG-02, CSM 360, 540, 180.

Perhaps a recollection offer for PPL who have these old gyros in their drawers, dismissed from service due to their bad performance ( in comparison to today's).....
That would be an ideal source....
Sort of.. environmentally friendly and a nice way to keep these unused sensors alive
