Compass Knight 50 ODIN 90 > Trex parts interoperability?

1st off, I realize this may be an offensive question to some, so let me apologize in advance...

Does anyone have info on Knight parts compatability w/the Trex 600?
I've searched and can't find anything.

In particular, I'd like to know if the Trex tail grips will work: http://www.grandrc.com/inc/sdetail/59452

but anything else would be great as well - Trex parts are much more common around here, and 1 day via USPS, instead of 4 days for the Knight parts.
Thanks in advance!

Do what I do stock up :-)

Ha ha no good question who has not been downa weekend and gone thru thier junk box to see if they can get back up with a franken heli for a weekend. I have parts dating back to the old GMP models still in my parts trays and now and again I can still use them.

I will tell you this though. After a season with the 3D and flying other helis that are currently out I simply stocked up on spares so I would have them. The heli is a keeper and I plan to fly it for years to come. With the exception of the Vibe 50 there is nothing out there that has the same flying feel. Not saying there are not other good helis but the 3D has the CG and head distance that makes it fly like nothing else 50 size. The Vibe is a close second for this feel.

Good luck on the research !

It's a valid question.

I have been thinking of obtaining a spare Knight 3D head and installing it on my TREX 600E to improve the performance. I need to measure the main shaft, distances, etc.

I usually tend towards liking things slow and smooth, but the TREX 600E could certainly use a little more zap on the cyclic. The Knight head can be tuned to suit almost any taste.

The only interchangeable part between a K3D and a T600 is the flybar. The T6's flybar is longer, thus, better. The diameter of the main mast of both helis are the same, but, the holes for the screws are in different places. The best way to go is stock up parts.

Hey their Heli_noobi3,

Do you need a tail for your knight. If so I have a spare one or we can make one up for you out of some spares.

I'm about 10 min. From you in fact I'm heading to F.F. today so if your gonna be around shoot me a PM.

Also if you need some other parts and I have what you need you can take them so you can get back in the air and replace them later.

George,
Thanks for the extremely gracious offer - sorry I'm so slow to reply, I was in Citrus Heights all day for a soccer tournament for my daughter.

Anywho... I'm just going to order the Knight parts from heliproz for now, as I won't even have time to work on it until the end of the week. Once again, I REALLY appreciate your offer though

BTW, I think we've met a Lagoon Valley in Vacaville, long ago.. My name is Brendan, I used to fly with Richard K. (who I haven't seen in awhile, guess he's been busy) and I also fly with Errol N. (but not as good as Errol, hehe) from time to time, although I don't really go to Lagoon Valley that much anymore as I've gone mostly glow and am lucky enough to live 1.5 miles from VacaValley RC
Thanks!

Oh ya ok... ya we meet out at Lagoon valley a few times. I've been trying to get Errol to come out and fly with us at the Island. You'r more then welcome to as well.

I havent flown out at the Lagoon in a very long time. But have been talking about heading over that way with Errol so he can try out my Atom and Knight 600E.

Richard broke his coller bone about 5-6 months ago but it wasent healling right so I guess they had to rebreak it. I havent talked to him in a while he kindof disapeared. I'm gonna give him a call tonight.

Well if ya need anything let me know setup wise or parts....
Give Bobby at XXXmodels a call or go on his web site he has everything there and is a great guy to deal with.

parts that you can use from a t-rex 600 are as follows;
tail hubs and tail grips (with rex hub)
tail output shaft
landing skids
flybar
paddles

also a kasama tail hub/grips will work

a knight tail boom will fit in the t-rex 600 but its to long and needs to be cut down.

only you have the power to make no difference!

Awesome! Thanks Bro!

BTW, a Raptor 30/50 v1 (NOT V2) hub and grips will also work, mounted "backwards" with the screw heads facing towards the boom.

Im the worst for swapping parts, I even have a trex 600n canopy on my knight.

And I have K3d tail fins on the raptor

Some things that I found that fit both the 600 and k3d are:
-boom support struts if used with a 600 clamp
-flybar
-landing gear if redrilled
-tail control arm... to use on the front tail servo mod

Its good to hear that the tail grips are interchangeable.

Are the balls and links interchangeable with both copters?

How about part numbers for feather shafts that are interchangeble with the 6mm k3d?

DCJXB....thanks for the info on the tail grips & hub. good to know.

rupps5.... unfortunately i know from experience that the align links wont work on the compass balls. was in a pinch at the field a while back and put one on...couple of figure 8s and the link popped....splat!!

Why would you taint a Knight 3D with Align Parts. That is almost sacrilegious.

To cut down on the parts you have to carry for both copters. What if you were in a pinch and did not have a k3d part but you had a bunch of 600 parts sitting there that were interchangeable. You could fix it and fly that weekend instead of staring out the window looking at the top of the trees for wind. Plus I can make the 600 a better copter if some of the k3d parts were of higher quality and vice versa.

Well, first off I wouldn't have any Trex Spares :P

Sure, if something fit I would use it.

BUT, I would rather just have the correct spares on hand for each heli. It is just easier.

Lastly, I solve this problem quite easily, I have a complete Knight 50 3D in a box. I will not build it. I use it as a parts donor. When I crash, I pull the parts out of the box I need to repair it and then order the parts to replace them in the box. Now you might ask, what if I crash again before the parts show up. Well, I take that as a sign that I need to take a few days off of flying. I actually have a spares of everything in the box. Motor, Pipe, servos, Knight 3D, blades and believe it or not a spare Skookum as well. I flat out refuse to build it up.

The other option here, don't crash .
