Chris is right. If you are all thinking about a large heli, don't bother with the Cellpro 4s. It has served me well and I still like it a lot. But the money is better spent on the 10s. Even for the smaller packs the 10s is better because it charges through the discharge leads as well as the node adapter. The 4s is limited to 4 amps, so less than 2c for 2200 pack.

Quote
maybe my thinking is wrong but fenders packs 4 3S end up as a 6S6P thats 12 freakin cells

Good catch Chris. The cell count is correct but the designation wasn't.

As for saving money over the Outrage packs, 2 Mega Power packs, 3s for $162, total 2500mah. HD gave me a discount when I bought 3, so each 6s 3000 pack only cost $161 and change.

Heliraptor quit trying to be cheap you will have to commit to a big heli thats why all of us started small and worked up no need to crash a expensive heli cause a battery wasnt charged well enough or a deans connector not soldered to well or, or, or, or.

Quote
No that is not correct. It ends up being a 6s2p pack. It has the voltage of a 6s, 2 packs in series, and is comprised of 2 packs in parallel.

Ok I went back to fenders pic I got it now he is running 2 6S packs in parallel simple enough. It is 12 individual cells like I thought in a conventional sense. I was always confused when they say 6S2P cause its six cells in series but not 2 cells in parallel its 2 packs of 6 cells in parallel. (clear as mud)

Some of this terminology baffles me like motor ratings 3800KV that means the motor is 3,800,000V? I always refer to it as a 3800rpm not KV.

Ok Tyran,
where is the accompanying quote

Heliraptor quit trying to be cheap
for this /\

Because I have a budget?

That is an estimate,
and
if I don't have everything I need when the budget is up,
then it will just be awhile longer before I get that bird up.

I've learned a few lessons about quality.

That's why I am probably gonna graduate from esky on the big bird.

RPMs are gas guzzling dinosaurs Kv a rating for the new age of electric power. Once you get your hands on the shop manual for your electric car, it'll all be clear. Opps, there I go again, living in the future.

My only complaint is most motor mfgs don't provide wattage ratings and you may or may not get amp ratings. I'd also like efficiently vs RPM ratings for all motors. Probably won't get kind of consumer info until the Democrats start regulating RC hobbies. Motors will cost twice as much but at least you'll know what you are getting.

Exactly dont rush getting the heli in the air with inferior parts I know we all need to watch money these days especially. Your gonna need some pretty expensive parts to get up to 500 or larger heli. I dont feel too bad for ya crashing the BeltCP as long as your learning but I would hate to see anyone crash their precious flagship and yes we all have one.

Just sayin do it right buy the 10S buy the 6S pack, megapower makes some for like $175. I forgot who it was a while back that got an Esmart I think and on his first spoolup threw the blades in his home and I dont believe we heard from him since. Please dont let this be you.

OK greg I know what a KV is. I use them at work 36 of them I know for a fact my 3550KV REX cant handle 36KV it would melt it to a small paperweight. I want someone to explain that KV rating in regards to a electric motor.

BTW the chevy volt is on hold right now software issues the programmers couldnt figure out how to turn on the gas generator when the battery ran low.

Yeah,
I plan on starting with a 2 pack set up (two sets)
that way I will have a lot of batteries for my 450
which I will undoubtedly fly more,
because there are more places to fly it.

After I have a dedicated place for the big bird,
I will get a couple 6s packs.

I am doing some hardcore hoping that we see some improvements in a123 (higher voltage, lower weight) by then,
regardless
I am researching them for the big bird.

Buy this!!!!

If it can make an old guy like me look a LITTLE better, think of what it would do for you.

BTW, I simply bought and run it stock. Plenty of heli and has performed perfectly. Not one problem. Glad I have it!

I have Triton Jr's that work with Equinox balancers.

$100 together. You'll want at least 2 with this battery hungry bird.

I think you can give up on that idea It was looking like they were gonna revolutionize the hobby last year but the voltage is too low or too high depending on cell count not to mention your ESC compatibility. I was gonna do my TREX with them till I did my homework. But now lipo technology is about to surpass A123 packs. So just hang tight I believe new technologies are gonna make lipo's almost indestructible.

MMike you may be a good looking fellow but your no T500.

Sure fender tell me how what a 3800KV motor is without explaining it mean 3800rpm per volt. KV as far as I know means kilivolt so a little brushless motor windings cant handle 3800V much less KV.
