Okey, I finally got Austusta 109 and Uni 2000 Mech. and ready to build it but ...........oops. A tiny wire for a tail drive????
Is there any other option to a wire with out spending so much more money on it? and with pictures of your modification will be a great help.
with great thanks

Yes, it's tiny......., but it really works. I build the Agusta 109 with the Uni 2000 and used the wire drive at first and converted it to the torque tube later. The torque tube makes it tail heavy, but I think it's worth the upgrade.

If you follow the installation instructions you will have no problems at all. It doesn't look very strong, but it is. I have a BO-105 and a Sea King with these mechanics, and have no problems whatsoever.

Hello,
I also can say that the wire drive is not bad at all. Because I have the Uni star in the pod and boom version and went into the national contests I converted to Pipe drives. I think for average flying the wire is more than sufficient. If you want a rock solid tail you need to convert. I converted because of that. However even HH gyro's work with the wire drive. You just cant get the gain up that high as with a pipe drive.

tail drive

Hi,

I've been running the wire drive from new in my 109. Now several yrs on its still faultless. I have seen a couple of these machines that seem to have a problem with wire or tube drive. I think its in the detail, build it right and it will perform right. Make sure you get the length of the wire absolutly correct with no pre loaded tension in it and everything will be fine. I,m not sure that the tail would stand the aero's that the head and body can but for scale type performance it seems to be fine. (Well mine has) There's a a few photo's in my gallery.

you can also run a hard boom conversion, 6 mm s.s.s shaft, supported bearings in a boom and articulated drive ends (like x-cell).
it is not standard equipment, but can be purchased as an upgrade if wanted.4451.100

I'm sure that boom will not fit the a109 though. And the boom is very heavy.Although the tube conversion is very very good quality.

The wire drive is fine providing you dont run the wire straight, the tube is more of luxury! I put a tourqe tube in mine and I'm very happy but it's true what every one else is saying about the wire, it's is reliable providing it is put in rite.
