[EDITED] Go to the last posts for info about latest updates

Hi all.

I just saw there was a model in www.rc-sim.de made for...Reflex 5.05!!!

What the...? There is nothing about that version in the Reflex web site, so I googled a little and found a german shop that has that version of reflex for sale.

Any news on when will the corresponding update be available?

Here's the interesting bits of it's description (google translated):
--------------
Reflex ® Ultimate XTR - The professional flight simulator for the highest demands!

[...]

The brand new Ultimate version of the Reflex ® XTR has a multi-player option, so you with up to eight pilots simultaneously in a scene can fly. The connection to the computer via a local network or the Internet. Another innovation is the sound output. The quality of the sound was much improved and the adaptation of sound playback from the respective flight status again perfected. To the kinematics of the model to better convey, was the portrayal of the exhaust plume and the reflection of the rotor blades further optimized.

For pilots with professional claims, has the Ultimate XTR now has a model-specific channel assignment. This feature offers the possibility of individual models with a specific channel assignment to it. This can now be programmed in the channel mixing functions.
Last But Not Least, the Ultimate version on the new scenario "Wasserkuppe" and contains the following new helicopter models: Caliber 400, T-REX 450SE, T-REX 450SE-V2, Swift 16, Hummingbird V3, X-3D Hornet and Hornet X-3D PRO. Furthermore, future product updates via the Internet.

Well. after some searching on the net havent found much info, but:

- It seems that the new version is available for slimstick (certain serial numbers) only. ¿What about iVol?

- There are two web pages active now: http://www.reflex-sim.de and http://www.reflex-sim.net (seems under development with only a welcome message). What's the oficial one?

The more I search in the net the less I understand.

It would be great if someone at Reflex could explain what's going on...

Ok......I have a dongle from 5.04 that has the lower range of serial numbers.

But where can I download the 5.05 software from ?

The only reason I paid good money for the new slimstick several years ago when it came out was for the promise that you needed this new stick to get continued updates.......AND THEN THERE WERE NONE !!! The 5.04 'upgrade' did nothing for the sim quality, it just added support for the iVol....which I'll never use. The first time I used Realflight ( I think it was 3.5), XTR went in the drawer and hasn't seen the light of day since, except to try the 5.04 'upgrade', which I was thoroughly disappointed in.....and back it went to the drawer.

Is this 5.05 another BOHICA, or can I actually finally get a useful update for the sim I haven't used since I bought it ??? XTR desperately needs an update as G4 and Phoenix are far superior now....since they have actually given their customers updates over the past few years !

Any info on download location would be appreciated. Thanks.

AlexAustria,

what page did you see that price on ? I found the link you included for the 5.04 -> 5.5 upgrade for $20 EUR. That's equal to about $25 US.

So BOHICA !

I tried the parazoom website and there were two things I didn't like:
- You cannot pay with credit card
- They charge 17'50 € to send to Spain (almost the price of an update that we were told would be at no charge or the price we could think appropiate).

By the way, I chose to pay for the last update when it was not mandatory to get it.
That after paying for the full product with iVol wich I wanted to try (and I'm satisfied with it) but that, after almost two years, still cannot be used with a real model when that was planned for this summer.

And the most important thing: there is an oficial site (or two...) with its shop that does not even tell a thing about the new version or the reason for the delay in the hardware and software needed for using iVol in the field.

I never agreed with those that talked bad about reflex and the team that developes/sells it, but this situation is really strange and is doing no good to the alredy damaged public image of a good product and it's manufacturers.

I just caught this thread and just wondered about Reflex generally. Theres not much mentioned about it these days. Can you point me in the right direction as whether it requires the Ivol TX thingy or is it usable via a dongle and a standard TX.

Any good sites, threads worth a read about it.

thanks

You can still use it with a standard TX you just need to use the correct adapter with the doggle. As for the IVOL it was a controller that was designed for the VIDEO GAMERs, it looked like it was going to be interesting, they were going to make adapter kits so you could use it as a regular TX in your heli. It was going to have 2 way communication custom switch and knob layout and software upgradable, it had lots of potential but I guess it died out also.

If you would be happy with the older version and a Futaba round connector drop me a PM.

Thats exactly what I was thinking Mr HillBilly the IVOL controller kinda lost its way. So am I correct in thinking you just go buy the latest Reflex version on a dongle and go play using your own TX?

I'll try and find out some more about it and may well get back to you about the previous version Mr HB..GTG this now thanks Brian

Where is a good place to buy the new 5.04 version of Reflex.

I want to add this sim to my collection of sims Phoenix,Aerofly
and then the Reflex XTR will do it.

What computer systems are you guys running them on?
Im looking to buy another computer just to run the sims. Something
fast to run them smooth.
I have a P4 3Ghz 2Gig ram and a 256meg Geforce FX 5200 vdeo card
but it seems to be a little sluggish on the Phoenix so looks
like I need to upgrade.
I might aswell just pick up a fast system just to run the sims.
Im sure its cheaper then building one from scratch.
ANY ideas???????????
