Hello Friends,

I just got a Gohbee Stinger .50. It will be equipped with a O.S. Hyper .50.

This is my first heli but I am looking for all the good upgrades.

Any recommendations for me as a new guy for this one? What kind of servos? I am a JR/Hitec fan so please keep that in mind.

Any information would be great.

My servo preference in my Stinger 50 and all of my helies, is the HiTec HS6965 servos, running on 6V. All 5 servos the same thing.
The HiTec is only .01 second slower than the JR, has more than enough torque, and the heli will weigh a quarter pound less.
I use a GY401 gyro.
Throttle Jockey pro gov.

As for the heli. Build it stock for now.
Use an inexpensive carbon fiber or fiberglass blade.
I am not a fan of wood blades, even for learning.
There are some upgrades that will help once you get to more advanced aerobatics. The best upgrade you can get now is another case of fuel.

Thanks!

Hello Jeff,

Well it sure is a small world after all. I am actually from Wisconsin myself (Dells Area). I am in Germany as we speak in the USAF. Anyway thanks for the information.

I am new to this and this is my frist helicopter. I have no tools for this heli or to get into helis at all. Could you reccomend the tools I need as far as starting equipment or anything else for helis? Is there a company out there that has good deals on getting started into helis.

Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks again Jeff,

Shane

Stuck in Germany?
That don't sound to bad.

The most important tools that you will need are a good set of hex drive tools. The cheap bent allen wrenches are serviceable to start with but you will want to get a good hardened set.
The other tool that you really do need right away is a pitch gauge.
Most of the plastic ones work just as good as the fancy metal ones.

It is nice to have a heli tach or be able to borrow one.
The tach is one of those tools that you will never use on your own heli it takes a second person to use the tach while you fly the heli.

As for starting equipment, I would recommend the Sullivan Dynatron starter and any 12v battery of at least 7AH. It is more starter than the 50 needs but the smaller starters will not handle a 90 if you go bigger someday. You will need a hex drive start shaft to put on the starter, I use the cheap ones that fit into the rubber of the starter, that way I can still start my planks.

You will need a glow driver of some type. Any of them will do. I like to have a remote glow driver so that I do not have to remove the canopy for starting.
