Over reving in normal mode while trying to land and screaming while at half throttle

Sounds like your throttle arm may be loose. Check the throttle arm screw that secures the throttle arm to the carb barrel. While on the bench, check your barrel opening from low stick, low trim to full throttle and re-adjust as necessary.....

TTRedline .53

I have two of them with the carbs both changed and I have friends with two each and we all like them. Once the carbs were changed they develop gops of power, I wouldn't run anything else now. However I did have a little problem starting one so now I pinch off the fuel supply and start it and then open the line and away it goes. OS is a good engine as well but the TT 53 flys rings around it.

I am more than satisified

new carbs

Just an update on the new carbs if you are having a problem where you need to adjust the low end over the flight this is was needs to be done.

What is happening is the third needle is moving due to the threads cut on the needle are very clean same for the carb body which allows the needle to move, what TT is doing now is to apply blue lock tite to the threads wipe clean so only the threads are filled in and let dry, then reinstall the needle the gap for this needle is 1mm, set the low flush this will solve the problem of the migrating needle, ONLY DO this if and only if you are adjust the low from one flight to another, if you had to adjust the the low end once to get it running or you think that the mid is to rich and you have to screw the low end more than a turn, then i would pull the carb and see what your gap looks like hope this helps Dino

Sounds like the barrel is stuck,we had a guy at the field today with new one and the carb stuck on the first flight. It had to sit on the ground untill it ran out of fuel.

Thanks for the first hand information Dino. My brother's, cousin's uncle thanks you.

Both our Redlines are working flawlessly with no binding. Still running the old carb too, but if it ever acts up I'll certainly do the nice easy loctite thing as advised. Actually I'll keep that clever idea in mind for other carb applications. The engine seems to thrive on 30% Cool Power. I had to use CA on my lawboy's plastic carb jet threads for a similar reason...never moved in 6 years!

I too had a lean mid, so pulled off the throttle arm richend up the mid and tuned the low and high from there. Another day i had my tuning go way out the window, noticed that the high speed needle was slighlty loose on the carby, tightend it up and fixed all of my problems. now its something i all was check before a day of flying just in case. Now its running great and loving it.

hi

must be the old carb. If it is the new one.. The guy must have tightened the carb too much causing binding..

The new carb is fantastic.. Im loving this motor over the hyper. Im also using Hatori 523

DS 8717 Can you confirm that the person with the stuck NEW carb did not over tighten or do anything to cause it to stick.

What fuel were they running?

I have been in touch with SMC and they (Paul) have been in touch with the Thunder Tiger importers and it has been agreed that there is an issue with the carb on the redline 53. A new one (MKII) is on it's way as I type. I should get it end of next week. Hopefully it will cure the problem the MKI has. (Leaning out for no reason even when running very rich. Quite scary.)

So does this mean we all have to send our carbs back in AGAIN? I have 2 (v2) that I still need to send in due to excessive wear.

ok

pennbrit not sure where you are getting your info but i have a direct line back to TT and so far they have not confirmed your statment to me, so at this point there is only a V2 which has the double nut on the high speed needle Dino.

I have re-read my statememnt and am not sure what you mean. I have looked at the photos that have been posted on here and there is clearly a differance between a MKI and a MKII carb.(or should I use the words old and new as shown in the photos) My carb has the single nut not a double one. I dont see that have have said differantly.

This statement is where the confusion is, it sounds like there is another carb coming like a MK111 or an update the double nut one, and you are just making reference to the one with the double nut as the new one that’s all Dino

also Ace hobby has the head shims in stock # pn0311 6.49 msrp for the pack

Ok I see your point. sorry. I meant that I have the MKI carb and another carb is on its way to me to replace the one I have. Not that there is a new carb on its way, ie, a MKIII. My fault, didn't express my self correctly.

shims

I have them coming, I have the stock one in there right now, I can tell it is over compressed some buy looking at the glow plug after a gal of fuel the coil gets pulled out some causing to lean out some, I just change the plug and I good to go then

Once I get the shims I will change it up and see how it works from what I have read from other add the .004 to the stock one works out well have to see for my style of flying
