I have a pre-production kit from IRCHA and a pile of the new silver tailbooms. None of them have holes. So, YES, I drilled holes to mount the tail box.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Hmm! weird, I just got mine from XXXModels Saturday and it's not suppose to be a pre-production model. There are no holes in the tail boom! Another thing is, how are you guys mounting the servos? All that came with the kit are servo arms(jr/futaba), washers, self tapping screws, and two unusual plastic pieces which looks like nuts but the holes don't match up to anything on the frame. CAn you guys post some pics?

Here's other things I found:
1)Tail Rotor blade grip is damaged! The arm where the linkage ball screws in broke off somehow during shipping or packaging.
2)I don't like the gyro mount. Upon inspection i noticed that it is warped and not level.
3)Missing a screw for the Rx tray.



Will post more as I go through the build. Hopefully someone at XXXmodels can help me.

Mine is pre-production with a black boom (and holes drilled in the boom to accept the screws).

I would contact XXX or KBDD regarding the damaged/missing parts issue. I know that they are very focused on customer service.

Correct me if i'm wrong, servo mounting on the Atom 500 doesn't require a plastic nut like the ones used in the Trex500.

Just want to point out to the folks that didn't have any holes predrilled on the tail boom. According to the manual, it specifies not to drill, but to use the self tapping screw. If your going to drill a hole, I guess make sure to use a smaller OD bit so the screw has something to grab on to.
