yep thanks MMIKE. I also tossed out the switch put it back in the box it came in. No need to make it complicated.

Cant see why you would need a switch maybe gyro could enlighten us?

You don't like Deans?, or are EC3's the "new" deans?
Any advantages with EC3?
Actually I love the Deans. I have little history with them as well. Back when I started racing RC in 1986, I melted the Tamiya plugs so I switched to the cool connector at the time. Don't remember the name, but they were orange and I fried my ESC twice accidentially connecting them them backwards. You couldn't insert them backwards, but you could get them close enough to spark.

Then Deans came along and I've been using them on all my RC applications since 87. I only use the real ones and have NEVER had a problem soldering them or disconnecting them. They have never failed me during use.

Enter the T500. The larger battery generates a very large spark when you connect pack to the ESC. Its known that over time the spark caused by higher voltage packs eventually builds up carbon on the Deans plug. If you are fast you can connent without a big spark. Regardless of technique, I was unable to get the deans together quicky and positively. I found myself carefully lining up the prongs and quickly jamming the plugs together. Half the time I didn't get it right. Often times this also meant that I had to cycle the Tx as well since or the Rx would report a brownout with flashing LED from having been temporarily connected, then reconnected.

The EC3 connectors let you line up the connectors via the plugs before there is any contact. Plugging them in is fast and predictable time after time. Inside the EC3 connectors there are high quality male and female bannana plugs. Nice stuff.

I still have the Deans on my HBK2 and have no plans of swapping then out. They work well for that sized heli.

yeah but the tail servo is not rated for 6V so then I would need a step down,I'm keeping this simple, these servos(9431)are plenty fast at 4.8,and the CC comes at 5.1 so they will be a tad bit quicker anyway, maybe down the line ,but for now, this set up will do just fine

and on another note I got a set of fiber/carbon blades for the MT tonight they were on sale real cheap so I decided to give them a try, only hovered as it was getting dark ,but its kind of weird not being able to see the disc,I guess I'll have to get used to it as the 550 has CF blades that are ALL black, but its definately different not being able to see the blades very well

No need to make it complicated.

For me,

1. Home switch off
2. Install battery.
3. Install canopy.
4. Fold back rotors
5. Drive to field
6. Unfold rotors and remove muffler plug.
7. Switch power and verify green light vs. red.
8. Fly.
9. Switch off power...

I absolutely hate black blades, my eyesight is not so good I guess and seeing the disc really helps me.
I found these were great for me on my E500 and TT50N (when it used to be a 30)

I see fender didnt know my cheapies 3010's are fine at 6V but still slower than yours. I cant believe you are new to black blades Its good for you gets you concentrating on the canopy alone you'll be more focused. Now tracking them can be a real bitch gotta have the right amount of light but they are so much smoother and quieter I am using the cheapy align 315mm they are great I am shopping for carbons on the raptor I dont like their stock woodies much.

MMIKE removing and replacing the canopy is all I do I dont use a butt plug I just turn my exhaust diverter up instead of down. Ironically the raptor30 radio switch is located where it can be reached through the vent hole. But I was convinced not to use it cause truthfully the switch that came with my radio uses a switch probably not rated at enough amps to handle 5 standard size servos.

oops late on the reply damn Im an outcast again!

It's an MPI. I think I was arrested for that once.

Seriously, I don't believe it's going to fail in the use of it's intended purpose.

BTW, I have 5 gallons through my 600N.

NO problems.

This 3010 standard high-torque servo can produce high-current draw from your batteries.
If using NiMH or LiPo batteries, make sure they are capable
of delivering approximately 2A for each servo.

you would need a 10 amp switch for 5 servos the 24gauge wire harnes is actually only good for 4amps dont know about the switch. But since were not stick bangers we should both be OK.

Interesting Idea stocky If you can die them (used to do that to airplane canopies)I would think you could paint them with the candy colored paints also used for canopies today. But Ill stick with the black ones.

I hate the covering on the raptor blades I can see it coming off where I cut it to glue on the blade holders. When it comes off I will either get new CF or paint them.

Whats up fellas

I bought a scorpion esc for my 450 and it has a short in it right out of the box. Not having a hobby store in Louisville that deals in helicopters i'll have to mail it off to get a new one.

I got a bec for the King a month ago so i'm finally going to install that today.

Even though I got a new heli it seems that the King is still my favorite.

Happy flyin

Kevin
