That's got to be staged!

When I was in college we decided to run around in circles to create a whirlpool. The vacuum was on the deck and was plugged in. We got the water moving so fast the current pulled the vacuum in. Everything was ok until we touched the sides of the pool, then it lit us all up. One guy grabbed the edge on the way out and couldn't let go, his hands were literally cooked.

yea if you are in a pool and it gets electrified DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE POOL and do not try to get out, yell at someone to unplug the wire, as long as you are in the pool you are safe.

As you can see you don't see the red plug pluged in an outlet so that is why they are not fried. That is the elusion of it the end of it is not pluged in

I'd bet it's the same as birds sat on a high-voltge power cable.

You won't get shocked unless you're earthed.

If water gets in the plugs where's the current going to go? - Between the contacts inside the plug. It's not going to make a circuit through the water, through you then back to the other contact - electricity takes the shortest, lowest resistance route.

I love bbq's! I'd get in the pool. after a few beers

yep, but most people have absolutely no comprehension of electricity.

here is another thing....I have looked as hard as I can and I cannot find anywhere anything about anybody swimming in a pool and being killed by lightning! one dude in France I believe was sitting on the side of a pool and he himself got hit but that was only because there was nothing standing up around the pool besides him.

it really bugs me when I am swimming in a indoor pool (or any pool) and there is a thunderstorm within 10 miles and they make everyone get out and stand around the side!!! a hundred times more dangerous!

oh well that came from the dumb paranoid people...

in a pool your muscles will be paralyzed, in fact there have been deaths in pools from ground currents passing through the pool, what some people don't realize is the ground we stand on is carrying all sorts of power through the dirt usually caused from fault currents somewhere else or leakage

You could in theory get away with this for the same reason they can hook to up hi power lines with a helicopter. There is no GROUND. I still would not try it myself. It is like the old saying. You know how you can tell a good electrician....He has one hand in his pocket.
