Best bargain at Sandown?

Sorry you could not get in Smudge. We went on Sunday and arived at about 9:00 am. There was no traffic at all - not one single queue. We got straight into the car park. It was a wonderful day with excellent weather.

Best bargain of the day: Futaba R149 9 channel PCM receiver at £75. Did anyone manage to beat that?

It's just a shame that none of the big distributors were there! Is this supposed to be the premier model show of the year or is it in danger of becoming a small jumble sale?

Where are Ripmax, J Perkins, Irvine, Macgregor, Robbe, Amerang?

Kudos to those businesses and people that bothered to show up.

I have to agree with the sentiment that Sandown is becoming like a boot sale, the flying on the whole was boring, nobody apart from exhibtors gets to fly so nothing scale just an enless line of planks doing the same tricks. the trade stands just there to shift as much stuff as possible nothing new on show. This was the first year that Ive come away empty handed, dont think Ill bother again for a while.

Sad to say I missed it

Sad to say that I missed it this year - I've been there 2000, 2001 and 2002, but missed it this year due to cash restraints. (It's a long flight to the UK from here)

All 3 times I caught the train to the nearest station and got the bus to Sandown - no traffic and minimal queues. You local guys should try it sometime.......

Was glad I went. I got held up for about an hour coming into Esher but had travelled for four hours and wasn't about to turn back.

I got a few bit a pieces on Sat and was really glad to see Bob J's display on Sunday, missed the Century turbine incident though. Any videos of the above would be great.

It would have been handy to somehow been able to identify RR people there. Decision to go was a bit of a last min thing and I didn't think of posting anything about meeting up, maybe next year.

Have fun.

Gerallt.

Vigor Winner

I'll be posting this on the AHA (www.aha-online.org.uk) website later

"The winning ticket no. 06997 belonging to James Marchant, of Burgess Hill, West Sussex. (Show photo). James has been flying heli's since he was 15 & is the current owner of a Raptor 30. He bought £5 worth of tickets at Sandown on Sunday - has never won anything before. As you can see from the photo, James was over the moon with his prize!"

Well I took a van full of people down as usual - we had no queus and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yes it is getting much smaller - not so long ago the trade occupied all four halls and you could only move inside when Hanno Prettner was flying!

Now it has got a LOT more heli content which is good to see.

Long day, I left at 05:30 and got home at 10:50 but well worth it and already looking forward to next years event.

Bob J's flying was incredible especially seeing as it was a turbine, I knew they were good at the scale jobs but didn't even consider you could chuck 'em around like he did!

Picked up a Multiplex Micr-Jet ... along with just about everyone else ... to fling around the field when the mood takes me (single electric pusher fixed wing delta 'jet like' model made from foam and only the bargain price of £31.99!!!).
