AMA and MAAC have an agreement, so you should not have to join AMA.

Camping / Golf Carts?

Is anyone planning on camping at IRCHA (in tents) and wanting to get a golf cart? I hear they're around $35/day or so. I'm willing to split the cost of the stay with whoever is interested. Please let me know.

Camping question...

Hi guys,
This is my first year that I'm planning a trip to IRCHA.. I'm thinking of pulling my camper. It's a 30' travel trailer. My question is would this be a big PITA to find a spot for? Would I be better off just getting a room?
Thanks in advance for any recommendation,
Todd

If you want to be certain to have electric, you will need to contact AMA for a camping space at site 3 ( shower house area )

IF THE WEATHER is dry before the jamboree,
we will be allowed to park additional campers and motorhomes behind site 4 ( Jamboree site ) These spaces will be primitive NO ELECTRIC hookups. So you will be dependent upon your generators, but you will be close to the action.

Well we here in the Natti are getting ready for the big dance. Let's see, I've ordered some new Outrage packs (for the 500), a new Quick UK frame frame for my 2nd N9, got the camping gear cleaned, and I'm currently searching for a Honda 2000i generator. Yep...can't wait!

Whattheheli,

There's wifi available at the AMA field, you just have to pay a small amount at the headquarter office and they'll give you a password to get access. Pinoy

Camping

Is anyone camping at the Jamboree and possibly bringing a generator? This is my first full stay at IRCHA and was trying to figure out how to keep all my batteries charged up. Any thoughts on where to pick up a cheap one? Please let me know.

RyeGuy83,

I'm planning to camp at IRCHA am I'm going to buy a Honda EU2000i generator in the next couple of weeks just for this dance. Don't know where to get a "cheap", but the Honda is about $1000 but you could also go for the EU1000i for about $700. What days are you planning to come?

I'm planning on going to the IRCHA Jamboree this year...but I dont think I will be able to make it for four full days. I also think that maybe we'd pull out our tent. It would be just my wife and I. Now, are there costs for tent camping? Once I register do I get a schedule or something?

Missle - I am planning on being at IRCHA the entire time. I am planning on tent camping and I have already signed up to volunteer for the event. I actually work at Menards, and I've seen some smaller generators for around $450-500, but was wondering if there was some small $200 ones anywhere. We actually sell Solar Panels for $100 a piece. I thought about hooking a couple of those to a lone car battery and go "Green" this year. lol. it's an idea

Chris - I have been in contact with AMA about camping... The fee is $5 / day for primitive tent camping. Not sure if there is anything extra for being at electric site 3. I'll have to look into it.

I picked up one of the 'Contractor Series' generators for $145 at a local tool store. Not nearly as quiet as the Honda, but a lot cheaper. Works great for charging plenty of batteries. I believe it is 850 watts continuous.

Seen them on ebay too...

Loud Generators?

Yeah, loud generators are not fun at IRCHA. Usually guys have a car battery that they carry and plug your charger into that. And if you're camping, primitive style, or near those guys/us, don't plan on running it all nite to charge!! We are all nice guys but that a lot to ask...

I do what I have to do, so I can do what I want to do.

I went through 2 of those before breaking down and getting the Honda 2000i. If I bought the Honda prior to trying the ebay jobs, I would be grumbling about paying too much for Honda. But, trying those first made me feel that the Honda is worth every penny.

Be sure to carry 50-100ft extension to run that generator without complaints from your neighboring pilots.
