Brett,

In 2008 the main flight line was at site 4 (i think), I heard site 3 was open also for those not comfortable flying in between 2 top dogs . Will that be the case in 2009?

Your statement is partly correct.

IRCHA will use a greater part of the AMA facility this year. In doing so we have labeled the field by color. Red, White & Blue fields. Site 4 being Red, Site 3 Being White and Site 5 ( also known as the 600 x600 ) as the Blue field.

Site 4 "Red Field" will be the main site for the jamboree, just as it always has been in the past.

Site 3 " White Field" will be open for FAI Style flying only, NO 3D flying at that site. There will be an area for hovering practice only. There is also a group that has volunteered to offer a little buddy box flying for those totally green to the hobby and do not wish to fly next to any of the hot dogs on the site 4 flightline.

Site 5 "Blue Field" Will host the final 2 days of World Championship flying only. You may watch at this site if you like on Monday & Tuesday.

Another question I keep getting is the golf carts.
It has always been an AMA policy that you had to be 16 to drive a cart at IRCHA or any event for that matter. As hard as we have tried to enforce this, it is difficult at best. Many of the cart rental companies are now having renters sign contracts which include age, damage clauses. If you are a parent, be aware you ARE liable for damages.

There is a diagram located at www.ircha.org on the 2009 jamboree page.
There is a lot of information on that page including hotel links and a list of this years activities as they are being confirmed.

Thanks, but do you know the names of the companies that rent the carts? Taking a car from the campground is hard due to traffic, plus parking is always an event in itself if you want to get close to the flight line.

What would be the best days to attend? I can't be there for all the days. I'm pretty much just going to be a spectator, I might bring one heli though.

thanks,

No doubt about it, Friday and Saturday, and if you can only make it one day I agree, just like every funfly, Saturday would be the main day. With the noon demos, the evening dinner and pilots drawings and the Saturday night, nite flying, it is the can't miss day of the Ircha event

First Major event

This will be my first major heli event. I've been watching the vids and pics for a while now. Driving from St. Louis. It'll only be around 6 hours. Can't wait to see everyone!

Hi,

Are the hotels listed on IRCHA's site listed in any particular order? I like to find the closest to the flying site.

Thanks,
G

All of the hotels that are in Muncie are all very close together. Fairfield,Holiday Inn Express,Signature Inn, Lees Inn, Days Inn and Super 8 are all within a mile of each other and right on the main strip in Muncie.

The IRCHA IAN Competition is BACK!!!!! Sponsored once again by Empire Hobby and once again we're looking for NON-SPONSORED PILOTS out to participate and given a chance to show what they got. Get noticed and be rewarded with recognition and a chance to be considered for the 2010 XFC!!! Our winner last year NATHANIEL RICE is competing this year at the XFC because of his grreat effort from last year's IAN Competition. So get your helicopters and skills ready if you want to be given the same chance like those pilots we had last year.
Interested pilots can e-mail me at APSERVO@AOL.COM. Pinoy.
