My rule of thumb that I use: I will pay up to the original purchase price for a new-in-box kit. Any kit that is less than NIB will cause the price to go down. Remember, a built model that looks new, still has to be torn down and rebuilt - just to ensure all the bearings, etc are in good shape and the kit was built properly the first time.
I am sure that other people use different methods of valuing these things.
Spare parts are available, but you have to be looking for them.
If you are going to fly the vintage helis like CaptainKrik, make sure you have lots of spares! (Unless you can fly like CaptainKrik)
