Unfortunately, the government powers that be won't allow over-nite camping. This field, along with several others in the Phoenix area, sits in the flood zone and is controlled by the flood control district. The same thing that keeps the area from being developed is also what has nixed the camping which is possible flooding. Of course that is after 40 days and nights of rain.
We tried the idea of requiring PFDs for over-nite camping, but it didn't go over well.

The original large field was sold to housing developers. The smaller field where another event was held had rental increase to a point where it was not economically sound. Other than camping, everyone has been happy with this field.

FunFly

Arizona seems like a big place , you guys can`t find a place anywhere that would allow RV`s . That`s half the fun.

if you like flying out in the desert with nothing else and no runway im sure you can find somewhere to park your rv. Other than that we have been stopped from camping because of our 100 year "flood", it sucks we know but its the law and we have to abide by it.

We haven't been able to have camping in several years, but everyone has had a great time and would hope that wouldn't stop you from coming. This is an excellent field with a huge fly over area. It is situated 15-20 minutes from a number of hotels. The runway was repaved this passed October. I've attached a aerial photo of the field for those who have never been. I've also included a picture of one of our guys christening the new runway

SunValley Weather information

FYI,

We recently installed an on site weather station! It's got everything except for a rain gauge.

Any update on this?

"At this time we are trying to get permission to use a section of State land that sits between the main entrance gate and the secondary gate as you drive in."

Albuquerque should be well represented this year !!
