They really widened out that top side didn't they.

Smart!!!

I wonder why they went to that anti-rotation slide on the swash. I feel the dual purpose antirotation link and elevator is a cleaner and better design.

simpler, stronger, saves 1 hinge, more flexibility on elevator servo adjustment, larger pitch change allowance? ..Just some thoughts. I broke the combo link on mine.. but then I'm an expert at breaking helis..

I just wonder why somebody from Century will not respond more as to what, when, and if this will ever come to be!

Can you imagine how much of there time it would take up just answering questions if they did

No more than the other reps for the other manufacturers.

Its an interesting area of publicity: you need to show off the concept machine to gain approval and criticism without destroying your current sales by folk waiting for it (and if delays then buying rival new offering).. and during the r&d phase most launch dates get optimistically missed.

Then the natural progression is to believe one's own launch dates, cut back on other manufacture in anticipation .. and make a royal mess of it all..

A trap all manufacturers fall into repeatedly. Soe try to get around it by being secretive .. which also never works because they need public feedback during later development and marketing..

Normally adding something increases complexity. Strength, and flexibility would be a function of design. The larger 12mm mast may have already reduced the pitch change but that would not be an issue either.

True ..but here adding a rigid antirotation control and taking away a hinged part of the previous control simplifies...

Explain? Only applies (as i see it) if you widen the mast diameter without relocating the ccpm bell cranks so they remain perpendicular to the swash.

Wow, looking at the pictures, I'd say that is some of the nicest machining finish of any manufacturer out there. Like the others, I look forward to seeing the 50 size gas in action.

The swashplate I saw is much bigger, and the sevros are wider apart, the head is wider so everything is the same, except it's bigger and wider. and when I moved swashplate. The pitch looked the same as the condor. I know they took all this in, when they designed the new heli. There is no way Century would give up the 24 degrees pitch range (+12 -12). The bottom of the swashplate is made not to lose the pitch. I guess we can talk about all day, I'v seen and played with it, There is no losts. WALLY

And the ccpm bell cranks look to have a bigger ratio throw to make up for the longer throw needed for the wider swashplate. Wally

Eh??
The increase in mast diameter is going to change the geometry???

The swash is like a rod end ball in order to keep the same 22 degrees of compliance with the bigger mast the ball has to get very large and heavy. I have no idea what Century did but I am guessing that they may have decreased the 22 degrees of swing on a larger heli as opposed to increase the swing. What do you need all that pitch for? The blades get inefficient at extreme pitches. Maybe Bill can tell us.

With the upper frames being spread out the A frame elevator link will get very rigid. I know it is not strength or limitations of pitch. It must be something else. To me that middle finger sticking up on the heli is mechanically ugly.

What 22 degrees? Blade Pitch change doesn't require the ball. That's for cyclic pitch and I was unaware if anyone using 11 degrees there.. thought more typically 6-8 degrees? or the blades would be completely stalled??

he is talking about Swash Deflection in degrees,, and he is still on the wrong track,, cause even if Century does lose SOME Swash Deflection with a larger Center Ball on the Swash they can make-up the defference with a Higher Washout Arm ratio AND OR a Higher Bell Mixer ratio !!

come on Ace,, stop nit-picking at nothing, it's the coolest heli out there !!!! gezzz

Wow, just stumbled across this thread. Century really stepped it up with this one. IMHO, by far the best looking gasser from a design stand point.
