What gyro and tail motor do you have in that high performance blade? Something tells me it's a gy401 and a medusa. Could you let us know? Great flying! Also what pinion are you using? Thanks.

Tail Support

Quick question. I broke the tail support off my CP+. How to replace as it broke right at the base?

Tail support? You mean the frame where the boom goes in ? Sounds like you have to replace the main frame.

Verticle tail support

Looks like I have to get the whole rear gear housing and support. Oh well, guess I'll see what electronics I can salvage to use on a plane. Already have the Blade 400 3D and a small foamy plane along with an extra DX6i I purchased a few months before getting the 400 3D.

My ultimate Blade cp is running a 401 with the Medusa tail motor with a Ep-3030. The motor is the new NEU neutron 4100 AKA the RZ-350 on his website, using a 10t pinion. I run a 600Mah 25c fullymax lipos. which keeps it light at 300 grams.

The Neu neutron is the strongest and most effcient motor i have ever seen. its very small and light. It has tons of power. stronger then my 12s 600. First time i have ever flown a heli where I cannot even hear the head load up durring hard manuevers.

Wow dieselracer that's quite a nice BCPP! Thanks for the response. Do you attribute the tail holding so well more to the 401, the medusa tail motor or a combo of the two? It looked like you could not lose that tail no matter what you did. You fly unbelievably well, like most of us will never be able to do. Is that solid tail more from collective management or just a well designed heli? I have a 401 sitting on my bench that I just may put on one of my BCPPs. BTW do run the gy401 in digital or analog? Thanks.

In that video i was doing full colletive tic tocs and hard manuevers so you can see that nothing will ever make that tail kick out. That tail setup should never kick out in flight. I run digital mode and 100% delay. From our testing we found you must a TB9 ESC with the 401 for the best combination. Do not use any other ESC for the tail or any other Gyro. Other gyros and ESC combinations do not like each other. We have seen other setups with other ESC's and gyros that do not hold like our combination. The TB9 and the 401 seem to talk to each other perfect.

Interesting! 100% delay? Excuse my ignorance but how does the delay function help here? I have never used any delay on any of the 4 or 5 401s that I have on belt drive helis. I have never seen a BCPP tail hold like that. Thanks.

it doesnt matter. All i know it that it just works....

I think it might let you run more gain, which makes the tail hold better.

Basially we did trial and error. And it works.

Looks like the 401 gyro and CC TB9 esc is the ultimate combo. It's hard to dispute video evidence like that.

I'm a psychic (or psychotic); I knew that you'd be reaching in your pocket to buy that gyro, didn't I Mitch? As I said I have a spare 401 sitting on my bench ready to step in and save the day. I'm just trying to squeeze every ounce of 'hold' out the other three gyros I'm running on my blades at the moment. By changing out the pinions to 10s to 9s on the feigaos and using a 10t on the HDX it looks like the bog problem is better. And using less pitch (from 12+/12- to 10+/10-) the tails are holding better. I guess I'll end up with the 401 too after seeing dieselracer's vid, not that I'll be able to fly like that.

Actually, Bob, I already have a 401 on my Blade 400. Here's what I'm going to do: I bought a Logitech 2100t from Helidirect that I'm going to put on the Blade400 and put the 401 on Bladezilla.

While I'm at it I'm going to follow your lead and drop the pinion down to a 10t. Yesterday I was doing punchouts with the 11t and it stripped the main gear!! Is there such a thing as too much power?

There is no such thing as too much power. Somthing was not right if you stripped your gear. With that Neu motor i have, I am sure i have the strongest motor that on the CP. Most of the stuff i did in that video was full collective as i was showing it to a friend who if you pay attention you can hear him talking. I am running 3200 HS BTW all plastic stock frame but the microheli swash.

Racer,
I currently have the plastic frame as well (and the microheli swash) but I ordered the microheli aluminum frame - should be here in a day or two.

I'm pretty sure I had just a tiny bit too much play in my gear mesh. Is your neumoter an outrunner? The HDX300 is and it develops INSTANT torque where an inrunner won't.

When I put the new maingear in I'll be running the mesh TIGHT!

Mitch

Hmm. I just got home and the guy took it off. So he is mostlikey redoing it. Do it will be back later.

The Neumotor is an inrunner. And is super strong and light. You wont find a better motor for it, trust me. Also stay away from the Microheli frame. Its not good. I had it, and it only caused tail issues, due to the frame flexing. Its a bad design if you ask me. Dont waste your money on it.

When you see the video, Mitch, you'll be a believer. It's a combination of a great pilot and near perfect set-up. Were you doing 'punch-outs' in normal or stunt? With 100% throttle in stunt I can't see how a gear could be stripped; in normal mode maybe. I'm only in normal mode to take off and land. You still need just the slightest bit of play 'almost unnoticeable' between the pinion and main gear. As I said earlier in my post about installing the HDX in a blade, this outrunner can push a 10t and there's no bog (I'm not sure with your heavy batteries). The possible problem with an 11t is that full collective moves might end up being slower with the 11t than the 10t. That's what I found with the Feigao main motors on the other two helis; that the 9t produced the faster a collective than the 10t. I think that diesel's got the line on set-up with these things.
