Two years ago or so there used to be post after post on the Blade cp and pro Now there's almost none I have been flying mine for a year now and still love it. One guy I fly with has a B400 and it flies great- Very stable (he let's me fly it if I'm good ) My other friend has a TREX v2 SE and he also lets me fly it. However, after flying the superior machines I still like flying the Blade CP pro better I can't explain why but I can't be the only one left- can I ?

*shouting from the distance* I do I do!

I love my pro... i fly it everyday. I've had it for almost a year now, and love it. I have only been flying it for the passed couple months, after my quick stent in plank-land.

Good to know someone else still fly's it.

How stock is yours? Mine has a G90 gyro and superskids... thats all i've needed really, so far.

I thoroughly enjoyed my BCPP, but now it's in pieces with electronics salvaged for other projects. Once I had a Trex 450 I wasn't motivated to fix it any more after the final in-flight tail motor failure.

I would agree that if you're not doing aerobatics, then it can be just as fun as a Trex to fly. Once you start doing aerobatics though it's much easier with a Trex or other higher end heli. The main thing I found annoying about the BCPP though was that parts just wear out much faster than with my Trex. Even if I never crashed it, the tail motors would stop working every 50 flights or so, head parts start getting very loose after 100 flights or so, etc. My Trex SEV2 on the other hand just keeps going and going for hundreds of flights, as long as I keep it lubed.

That said, I'm considering buying a Blade CP Pro 2 when it comes out. Since it already comes with an AR6100 Rx, I'll be able to use it with my DX7 with no modifications.

I got an HDX 300 brushless main, a Telebee gyro, a GWS DD tail motor with the 3x2 push on prop, super skids-- everything else is stock. I love the simplicity of the plastic head- I wouldn't put a CNC head on it even if you gave me one for free Well mabye I would try a free one

Bilbo, I'm pretty sure you right about the long term relibility of the TREX, it is better quality. I think I just like the size of the Blade. Maybe I'll get a TREX 250 when they come out with one.

I've had my Blade CP for 2 years now; still love to fly it; I too like the simplicity of it; less part's count = less to buy after a crash. Although it no longer is a plain CP (BL motor,Phoenix-10 ESC,G90 gyro,DD tail,Bell-Hiller head, alum. swash,Spektrum reciever, the only thing stock now is the frame, boom & skids, but flies great.

On this last point I'd have to disagree. In my experience comparing crashing my Trex 450 SEV2 vs my Blade CP Pro, usually more parts break in a typical BCPP crash, it takes longer to repair, and even costs more to repair! This last is because E-Flite charges more than Align for most of the commonly damaged parts like blades, feathering shafts, main shafts, etc.

I think the idea that a BCPP is cheaper to crash than a mini heli like a Trex is a common misconception. The parts that do cost more on a Trex, like the main frame, and electronics, don't usually break in a crash. So while the initial cost of a full Trex setup is much more, minor crashes usually end up being cheaper to fix. You'd have to dive full speed into concrete or something to end up with a more expensive crash with a Trex.

Still flying one here just in the process of converting the gws brushed to brushless on the tail but its been a great little bird to learn on .I also went to a 450 rex for my main heli but the pro is great for buzzin around the yard in small spaces

Bilbo, I tend to disagree with you on this one, the most I have ever had to replace after a crash is a set of blades, feathering shaft and skids; I just straighten the main shaft throw in a feathering shaft, add skids and go; I still have the original canopy on it; a little beat up but still in "kinda" one piece; and i've had some good nose dives into the ground; original servo's too; maybe I'm just lucky. I do agree that e-flite parts are WAY too over priced for what they are, but I get the aftermarket parts that are pretty cheap. I also agree that align parts are fairly cheap, but my point is "more parts = more to replace".

Just my 2 cents.

Roscoe, Thats been my experience as well. I will just bend back the mainshaft, straighten the spindle with two pair of pliers and GO I do have the superskids- which almost never break and buy the 8 dollar heliDirect knock-offs or the Esky CP 2 blades that are 7.32 I also found that the better I get as a pilot, Crashes are few and far between.

Ditto for me too. I'm not the most adept pilot around, but with me I just hate to crash any of my heli's, and that's not because of the cost of repair. Some people say if your not crashing your not pushing yourself enough; well that's all fine and good for some, but I'm in the hobby for the fun of it and to me crashing is not fun. Yes, someday I'll be good at all that cool 3D stuff, but I'm in no hurry; just to go out and fly around and have a blast is cool too.

Peace

I definitely agree with this! Now that I don't crash often, the crash repair costs are not really a consideration for me anymore. I mostly prefer the Trex because it's lower maintenance and performs much better, but OTOH the BCPP is smaller and seems like it can do less damage, so I'm more willing to fly one around my driveway or other small areas like that. That's why I'm thinking of getting another one when the Blade CP Pro 2 becomes available.

Roscoe, I agree if you stay away from E-Flite parts, aftermarket Blade parts aren't any more expensive than Align parts. I guess I usually like the instant satisfaction of going into my local hobby shop and buying parts, and they don't carry many aftermarket Blade parts.

bilbo, I'm with you on the performance aspect of the 400/450 class heli's compaired to the BCPP, although I've seen some upgraded BCPP's do pretty much everything a bigger heli can do, just not in my hand's .

Yeah, that "instant satisfaction" get's me too; just seem's like even if I don't need any part's I'm always walking out the LHS door with something .

AH!!!! So nice to hear some CP guys. I too have a CP(modified of course) and a trex 450. I think this is how they compare: The Trex is the good car with the nice paint and the big engine, and high end drive train. The cp is that beater car that gets good gas mileage, that turns out to be so fun to drive and you don't have to worry about scratching it. I love mine and thoroughly enjoy flying it. I have the titanium tail boom from super skids. That was the best thing for it. I used to get so pissed trying to dig out the carbon fiber from the frame and tail. I still have the e-flite servos but might change to the blue hi-tech whatevers. I usually get crazy trying things on the cp before I try to do it on the trex. Now a days I only bend the main or feathering shaft, break main gear teeth, or break that plastic fly bar controller piece. Have the seen the new e-flite metal head? Looks pretty snazzy.

stupid gravity......

Nicely said irush The guys who "badmouth" the CP are the guys who can't fly the CP

I still have my bcp, haven't flown it for awhile, I switched to bl main and tail with dd tail blade, I used the push on blades and had a couple just pop off. I grounded it waiting for the new blade cp v2 to come out so I could buy the tail setup they have on it.

I have been flying my Trex 450 and have gotten pretty comfortable flying it in smaller spaces, I recently bought a hirobo quark, which is a fixed pitch heli but is very snappy and cheap to repair.

I like flying the blade cp, it is like irush said, it is a snappy little beater, but it is tough enough to fly that flying around with it and putting it away without any damage is its own reward. I need to get it back out again, I do miss the little bugger.

Soon, I hope. I'm eager to compair mine ( "slightly" modified BCP ) to the CP pro 2; to see if all that money I spent on mine was worth it? lol. We all know better, but do it anyways. God, ya gotta love this hobby; if I didn't have heli's, I'd be a drunk or drug addict .

vsnyder8, If you use the push on prop again - set the heli up so the prop rotates and pushes itself on the shaft while it spins and use a heatsink. I have tried a few combo's and the best one so far is the ics 50 GWS esc and the gws 3x2 push on prop with NO adapter- a heatsink on the motor and the prop rotation pushin the prop towards the motor.
