Still checking flight times !! 6 flights yesterday all were at 4 min to check batteries. Average was about 1500 put back in a 6s 2500 pack. This is with an 11 tooth pinion instead of the 9 tooth.

How did the heli feel using a 9t pinion? 10t pinion?

main gear got 78 teeth I think

Very solid feel with 9t or 10t.Lots of flights at IRCHA, we played with 6s 2170, 6s 2500, 6s 3000 ,6s 3200 and all fit fine. I think with a 6s 3200 and a 9t you could get some real long flight times with still great power. I ran 5-6 mins on the 10t with enough power to loop this pocket rocket till it gets real small with a Flightpower 6s 2500(they are a year old). It is very, very fast when you want it to be. The best thing of all is we would land it and have a cold motor. We flew 6 packs back to back with no cool down time!!! You guys are going to love this heli.

I just got home from IRCHA I should have pics and vids of mine soon as well. The ATOM is a rocket for sure! The best part???? It's a rocket straight out of the box, no upgraded ESC, no having to buy a better bigger motor, just build and fly as is!

Cant wait to get mine finished and in the air!!! Thanks for letting me fly yours.

Agreed

Many flights on mine as well Iam thinking 9 tooth with some of the new Chemistry packs

I was puling some very HUGE maneuvers and all the little Atoms seems to do is build speed

After 5 minutes of smack 3d flying i could drop the motor in my soda and use it for a ice cube VERY impressive

We were suppose to shoot some Hd video but we never got it done

I will get some video done this week as well

Rigalo, Tyler and I brought Kevin's Atom down to the Outrage tent to test fit one of the outrage 6s 3300 packs and it just barely fit but did. It also made it just hair nose heavy. The 3000 fit perfect and balanced nearly dead on. We also tried a 6s 2500 and it obviously fit but was just slightly tail heavy then. If you do a lot of backwards flight the 3300 would be great. Of course the chosen gyro and tail servo will come into the equation. If memory serves Kevin had the Hitec package on his.

Hope this helps,

Phil

Thanks all for the battery check. Seems I'll have to stick with the T-rex or Mikado, to support my packs.

EDIT:
I had a look at it at the 3DM, and it looks like a very nice heli to stretch to a 500, since it use the standard boom size. You then have a 500 which is very light. I think the Mikado 500 is too heavy, and little iffy to stretch the T-rex. So, seems like the L10/400 is still a good/best 500 size heli.

Thanks.

Balance

Phil,

The 2500 would be the best pack for backwards flight as it leaves the heli slightly tail heavy. The 3000 is neutral. The 3300 would be great for a sport pack if someone doesn't plan to do much backwards flying. Having said all of this, I must clarify that the balance difference is very minimal between the three. I am in way saying that the 3300 pack will not fly well backwards or that the 2500 will not fly well in forward flight.

Like you said, gyro and tail servo selection is a major factor in these experiments. I am going to use smaller servos on the swash and the tail, so I don't know which pack would suite my set up better, yet.

The best packs so far for the Atom are

3000 6s outrage
3200 6s Evolite Flightpower
2600 6s Thuner power

These are the best fit and best power of each brand
