Last flight of the day and a buddy talked me into trying inverted autos on my 450.... I guess I should have stopped after the first one went wrong

Hey....if you're having fun and no one is getting hurt, keep enjoying what you're doing.

Amazing that that heli could take that amount of abuse and keep flying again and again.

Some days I don't know how it stands up to the abuse. I end just about every flight on the side or head of this little heli... but it keeps coming back for more and more. In that clip above, all I did was straighten out the blades in between attempts... although the last one got the better of it and stopped the fun for that evening

Strangely enough, you can hardly tell it has been wrecked

UR the 450 auto king!

I'd like to see someone post a completed inverted auto here. Seems like you just can't get enough inertia in the blades.

They are possible, I am just not good enough

This is the video that made me think there was a chance. Chris Harmon's vid is the only one I have heard of doing inverted autos on a 450. I would love to see more if they are out there.

Chris rolls out of his inverted auto higher.. therein gaining a bit of headspeed while UPRIGHT too. I've done these at a much higher altitude than Chris, and didn't crash. You have to roll out at say 30-50 foot to make it.

That should buff right out! No problem!!

Thanks for the advice. I have only managed to land one inverted auto on the 450 and it was when I flipped out about 40 foot up and gained enough headspeed on the way down to land safely.

I finally broke down and tried an inverted auto on my Titan 50 this weekend. The guys at my club kept pushing and pushing so I put on some cheap blades, borrowed a buddy's plastic canopy and gave it a try. They were pretty rough but at least I got to take it home in one piece. I am going to keep practicing on the 50 until I can do them smoothly then Ill give them another shot on the 450.

Here is the vid from this weekend. I left my friend's commentary in the video so you can hear their confidence during my first attempts on the Titan

Well, I got the 450 rebuilt... but that didn't last long

The pics don't do it justice. All 4 frames are broken (again!!), the motor mount is bent pretty bad (check out the motor angle), boom, feathering and main shafts, tail servo is stripped, one metal mixer bent, one very tacoed 4 cell pack and blades of course. It wouldn't be so bad, but I have to modify the frames every time I replace them so they can fit the HS81s... its a real pain in the ass

... of course I just used up all of my spare parts in the last wreck

Thanks for the confidence Drew. The next weekend after trying them on the Raptor I tried some on my 600N and they went ok although they were nothing great. I haven't tried them again on the 450 since the last video.... but I will

(the next weekend with my 600N shooting inverted autos)
