Hello

I am wondering how well copterX head/tail work on trex 450?

i saw some overseas dealers selling them on e/b a y fairly cheap. i had some quesitons:

1. are they any good - or way worse than align heads/tails
2. would i need to do any modificaiton to fit my trex450?
3. also, are the various components of the head, compatible with Trex v2 (compared to copterX v2)

Your experience with both of these products will be much apprecited!!!

Quite a few threads about the copter X vs. Align head.

In short, my personal experience has been excellent. Plug and play and the quality is just as good as the align unit.

Appreciate youre responses very much - copterX is comparable to Align head/tail.

now for the third question - are all the parts interchangeable? Say for example, i have a copterX V2 - and needed to change the main grips, can i just buy the align grips, and they would fit/work perectly?

copter X

i also have the copter x head and tail assembly on my trex 450 it rocks. so smooth. it came with ball link arms that go to the servo arm. i popped them off (lazy) stuck in the copter x and checked the screws for tight (all were very tight) and flew. very smooth.night and day to my sa head. i was worried as well if i shouldn't have spent money not knowing if quality was the same. but i'm impressed. i've got a new se coming with metal head and i'll compare and let you know if parts will swap around. should be here in a day or so.

Black Angel is a bad idea.. at least with the previous versions of the CX they were clones so you could at least get trex parts or other clone parts if you needed to fix something and didn't want to wait for Ehirobo to send parts from HK.

the BA is a new unproven design that is CX only so you will have to get their parts from them as no one stocks CX stuff.

At this point with the V3 Trex450 on the way.. the Beam E4 and Furion and Rave out there.. no reason not to buy a good kit.

NextD Rave, T700N x2, Velocity 50, Trex 250

this is just your opinion which you are entitled to but not based on fact...

your logic is flawed, the rave and the beam is not available in NZ as for parts I always purchased my parts over seas and keep a stock anyway, parts from Ehirobo to here are about a week away so I dont see that being an issue you seem to be a BIG FAN of the alin gear

no its not its very close to the beam, I could also say the rave is a new design looking at the tail

how can you state "dont buy them" in one breath then say you use their parts on your align helis

The black angel had a good review in RC Heli Mag. The only downside was buying from overseas. I spoke with a friend of mine today that recently bought two of the CopterX TREX 450 clones on ebay. From order to box on his doorsteep took a little over a week. CopterX is a new company that is trying to establish itself. I have been seriously looking at buying either one of the ebay CopterXes or the Balck Angen and swapping all the electronics from my Rex 450 over or just saving up and buying more electronics. I'd love to see the Black Angel on a Scorpion -6. I bet it'd be smokin'!
As for quality,I'd have to agree with Coops. I've seen the CopterX aluminum model up close and in person. It is identical to Align in appearance. I am not a machinist so I can't pull out my micometer and tell you it is identical. The story I got was that the same company that makes CopterX is sub-contracted by Align to make it's 450 (non Pro) helicopters. Since Align is banking on the success of the 450 Pro it has given the company that makes CopterX permission to produce and sell it's version under it's name. Bottom line, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and in this case flies like a duck, don't call it a goose.
I just bought an align head for my Rex 450 and it looks identical to the CopterX head, except it doesn't say Align on it.
Just my 2 cents.

Ted

I always have fun. Some times are more fun than others.

What you say makes sense strat1960, BUT ... if copterX is using the exact same molds, how come the length of the feathering shaft vary between copterX and Align? Which to me (from a non-machinist point of view) means that either the head or the main grips are different, that is why copterX needs longer feathering shaft ...
