thought i had another main gear but no. should be here friday and fly her this weekend. got the other trex flying . flew some this morning. taking it easy after my crash. using this time to lube belt and replace feathering shaft and main shaft. they look ok but i have several new ones and it hit pretty hard. friday i'll be ready to just put the main gear on and ready for the weekend. by the way i use heli proz a lot and used ron's heli proz south this time and got a phone call from them to make sure the shipping info was right and told me a cheaper route to go. great service. to me service is prime.

up to 4. gonna hover a little tomorrow. may try some nose in so i can show off a little this weekend. got it down on the sim. think i'll put some training gear back on and take off nose in and start like i did with tail in. trying to create some muscle memory on the sim tonight.

That's a GREAT idea. Is it you that says " fly two mistakes high" ? That seems to be my problem...when I get the 450 up high I loose orientation. ( I think i'm 7 mistakes high) I'll bring my gear to the group tomorrow and try that. I can do it on the sim too, but...... PUCKER. If I die you can have my stuff........just kiddin! LOL.

my friend told me to fly two mistakes high. i also kind of freak out when it's high. for some reason i can't get a handle on the disk angle like i can when i can look at it from the side where you see every move much more clearly. however when it's higher for some reason my moves with the cyclic don't seem so exagerated. maybe it's mental but when i got it up higher it seems to help relax my thumbs a bit. imho i think hovering is the most difficult thing to do and when i finally got the nerve to lean her forward it seems easier to fly. im trying to make smooth turns and not change my elevation. for some reason (even on the sim) when i turn i bring my tail around to quickly and balloon the heli upward. maybe nerves. i decided to master turns on the sim without the elevation change first. nose in i heard the training gear routine here on rr. it makes sense to get comfortable with nose in the same way i did with tail in.here's a link to my mad 3d skills.

i'm using the Spektrum Dx7 and really like it. don't have much to compare it to other than a cheesy walkera 72 mgh. i have a handheld tach that i've used with reflecive tape but can't check it other than idle up. i'm going to smooth my throttle curve a little between idle up and st 1 because as you can see on the vid it jumps up quick. if you're not ready for it it'll get ya.that trex is my blinged trex. it's carbon boom and frame. the canopy is fake carbon but man it looks nice. what's the cheapest tool to use to check head speed? i could strap the bird down and check it but i'm a little scared to try it that way.

Yeah, don't strap 'er down. you'll pull the LG right off Keep looking for an optical tach...they're KOOOOOOOOOL. My friend Paul found one on rr for $30.00 bucks. I'm not sure what Heli Pro's charges for a new one. I know my MX 450XS turns 2100rpm in std. mode....we haven't spooled up to IDL-1......I'M afraid Once I get "nose in" down we'll give her a whril (pun intended).

think i'll look for a tach, anyone want to donate one to the ruddernate foundation. lol i would like to know what my head speed is. i have st 1 pretty mild and st 2 very fast. i'm gonna bump st 1 up a little to make it a little more zippy but not as much as st 2. st 1 right now feels really mushy.what radio do you use? i hovered in normal for a long time. scared to flip the swithch. i'm glad i didn't. atvracer told me it's a good thing i didn't. had my throttle curves off a lot. when i did and the head speed jumped up it was night and day as far as being stable.

I'M using Futaba 9CHS. It's a nice radio, MAJOR mixing programs, curves.....not 2.4......yet. The Rex is very stable....I have a 450XL that I coverted to SeV2. When I did That my head speed was tooo slow. (Lawn Dart). I'm re-building slowly, put all the Align goodeis on my HeliMax 450XS. ( red bling ). I want The Hitec Cyclic servos with life saving METAL GEARS. I use Fut S3107's in the Max....always breaking a tooth in the nylon gears. It's only money.....right? But I don't got any! LOL. Soon, now with the Hawk... the Rex just sits there. Got to get that nitro bird going first. keep looking for that tach you'll love it. GULP nose in # 16 tomorrow.

:eekk , here we go. just gotta let my heart come back down out of my throat.got my lama 4 in today and it distracted me from my nose in on the trex for a while but used it to nose in a lot in the house. fun little heli. so this evening i psyched myself up and went out with the 450. put the training gear on which through the trim off quite a bit which i didn't think about. spun it around and lifted off. was pretty wobbly but i was doing it!!! set her down and spun around tail in and flew out about 40 ft and had her hovering tail in and like a mad man spun her around in the air to nose in(which i had no where near the guts to do before) and hovered some more. i can hover tail in on a dime but wabble nose in. i think because at this point i still have to consciously think about every move. even after all the sim hours. sim hours though are why i still have a bird in one piece tonight. heart was pumping like i was fixing to wrestle a tiger or something. the best part for me was spinning from tail in to nose in and especially from nose in to tail in with a good lean into fff. sweeeeeet! what a rush. good job papa sal. gotta keep up with you guys.
forgot to say got the whole thing on video. i'll try and post a link tomorrow.

hey povern, you still tearing up the sky? how's it going?
