hay sonny your doing fine when i fly circuits i fly fast so its a little smoother to controol but at first i couldnt make a turn for the life of me lolremember for every stick movement in forward flight like left aliron and left rudder to turn will require some up elevator while turning. took me forever to figure that out then i had to learn to fly twards me and that was fun to but now i can make nice wide figure 8s with no problem and fly twards me nose in. ive been flying for almost a year now. tried to do my first piroflip 2 weeks ago didnt work out so well but im practicing them on the sim at every chance i get some day il be able to do it.

Hey Cobra, I think you are doing better than me! I have been flying for I think just at one year, or should I say trying!! Do you use any expo? I am flying fast as well and I think I need to slow it down. My eyes aren't so good with Diabetes and all but I'll get the hang of it. I joined a club that's mostly heli guys and that helps having guys who know what they are doing to learn from, guys who try new stuff and have had the same struggles.

Guys don't foreget about all the basics. I spent this summer going back to basics myself. Worked a lot of just backwards flight then nice gentle aileron rainbow which have turned into some pretty good aileron tic tocs, also just staionary flips and rolls. Recently have been working on inverted flight on the sim and of course don't foreget about the autos. My god I can't tell you how much those saved me this year alone. I bet my heli went in probably a dozen times and evertime it went in it was minimal repair. I mean minimal. Most of the times the blades were good to go. I can't stress enough from self inflicted pain learn the basics first before trying pyro flips.

Bring back the rotary phone so we don't have to press "1" to proceed to ENGLISH.

thats true the basics are verry important i have found that i can do all kinds of manuvers fast but thay really dont look so great to me but trying to do the same manuvers slow and gracefull take a lot of skill and concentration. but at the same time look verry impressive to. ive been practicing my funnels on the sim mostly and piroflips. told my self that i want to do a piroflip before the end of the year on the real heli tried one time but did not pull it off but i did try.
.
sonny i know what you mean while flying and having trouble with sight as i also have eye troubles and mostly can only use one eye to watch the heli. whitch i find verry challenging at times. i cant use bolth eyes to see at the same time as thay dont see in the same area. just something i have gotten use to in the last 40 yearrs i guess.
.
but hay i am loving every bit if flying helis but like all of us need more time on the sticks and more money for the fuel.
.
i really like the 500 nitro due to the fact of the cheap repair costs but nothing can auto like the 700 its a dream to auto from as high up as you can get it.

I guess one of these days I'll get it down, with practice! Last year at this time I couldn't hover!! So I did come a long way up the pike! But still a long way from where I wanna be!! Looking to get some flying in this weekend! It'll be hovering I think unless I can get on a buddy box. Too many crashes last month has me nervous!!

its all good just take your time i still have days that i just dont feel like taking the chance of a crash and do alot of hovering still have issues with nose in hoverong jst not comfortable with it. 2 weeks ago i was doing all kinds of stuff but then crashed my 700 still dont know why it happened but i know that it was nothing that i was doing to cause it to crash like hit the ground or anything like that. it was 40 feet up when it seld distructed but last week i was scared to do the same stuff i was doing the week before so mainly just hovered arounf and flue circuits.

Anybody go fly today?
I flew 4 tanks this afternoon. Had to adjust my tail linkage a bit since the last crash ate the linkage up, but all went well otherwise. Although i can tell that crash also did a number on the clutch liner. I replaced it about mid summer and had planned on doing the whole clutch assembly this winter when the snow fly's, if it does, that is. I prayed that we would skip winter this year and have good flying all winter! I wonder if I will get my prayers answered.
I don't know a heck of a lot about clutches on these 600N's what is the normal replacement period for them?

Hey Cobra,
My clutch was fine until my battery came out and it crashed! The motor was running for a little bit until we got it shut off by pulling the fuel line. I had replaced the liner earlier in the year for the same reason you did, not it definitely spins up to a high rev before engaging. I just want to know if it hurts the motor to do this. I don't want to tear it down right not to fix it because we are in a decent weather pattern for a little bit! And i want to fly it!

well as long as the clutch dose engage it should be fine i would think it shouldne do anything to the motor as long as its not slipping and letting the engine over rev. do you have a govenor on it that would keep it from over reving.

Yeah, I have a throttle jockey in it. It just made me wonder as when i put the new liner in it, it was like the clutch was automatically engaged or it took very little rpm gain to get the head spinning. Now i have to give it a bit more throttle to get the head to start to spin. It does lift off and fly, I was just concerned it may not be good for it to do that.

Align has a good clearance between the clutch and bell if the liner wears the clutch shoes expand outward so when you put a new liner in it drags. The best thing to do is replace both together so you keep a good clearance. One less thing to worry about.
I still suggest that this winter we get together and tear your heli down a go through it, we can do it in the clubroom and I will teach you what I know about setting up a heli.
